Quick question guys, are the Pertronix D1352 Flame Throwers any good?  Looking to install one on my 302

Is there anything you have to check or watch out for when installing?

Appreciate all comments.

Thanks

Tony

Throw it in, set your timing and happy days. You will never have to buy another dizzy again as long as you don't mind the Chevy look in your Ford v8.

Has anyone used these with a non roller flat tappet cam without changing the steel drive gear the units come with?

If so,  was there any undue wear on the drives?
In simple terms was it OK to use?

I'm used to using cast iron drives with these cams but Pertronix says steel is OK and Crow said they preferred melonised but didn't say not to use the one supplied.

I'm a little confused so would welcome advice based on experience please.

Thanks mate, appreciate the help.   The Cam in that thread is a roller.   Mine is non roller

As indicated I'm used to using cast gear on a cast Cam, but the manufacturer doesn't make one and says the hardened steel one is OK.

Crow cams suggested melonised but didn't say I couldn't use the one supplied.

Pertronix only supply bronze or hardened steel.  Nothing in between and have a different diameter shaft to nearly everyone else so its not as easy as just buying an alternate.  Pertronix have sold thousands of these, so they are probably ok to use.  I guess I'm just being overly cautious.

Response from Pretronix

"Yes, our steel gears equipped on a D1352 distributor can be used with both Austempered Steel and Cast Core camshafts."
