Title: Firewall insulation
Post by: Ford Compact 1963 on January 26, 2014, 10:28:49 pm
Hi guys,

Removed inside firewall insulation mat as it was perished and flaky. I'm looking at making one up myself with underlay then a blue carpet on top. Would this serve the purpose ?

Cannot buy a kit for it :/

Dynomat (or similar) and then underlay and carpet.
This is how I did my car.
Dont get any heat from the firewall .
Im still undecided whether the dynomat is any good at noise cancellation.
Or it could be my exhaust  :lmao:

For the firewall, I think yes, to stop the heat transfer, but I wouldnt bother doing the rest of the floor in dynamat.
