Early 5 bolts aside, are there any actual differences between a 289 and 302 block?

That's a very late '68 date code - I would have expected it to be a 302 as I thought 289's ran out in '67, but really I have no idea.

Hi guys,

Does anyone know what month in 1968 they changed the 289 to 302 Windsor?

My 68 289 has the engine stamp C8AE6015B which means i have a 302 block with 289 stroke and heads,
they ran out of 289 blocks and started using 302
the date code for my 289 is 8F13 meaning it was made 13 June 1968, the date code for the car is 16 July 1968,

the body has the chrome surround rear reflectors, some 68s have the flush mount type, guessing they are the later models,

Does anyone have a 289 built after 13 June 1968?

thanks
Woz

I used Keys Windscreens at Sutherland. They are mobile and may do your area. They were recommended for antique cars. They did a great job and weren't expensive.

Thanks for the advice.  I have spoken to Griff previously but wasn't able to shed any further light on the fitment.

Good thinking on CJ  I didn't think of that.  I'll give it a try, but I find their communication a bit hit and miss

Appreciate the help.

Looks like the Part Number (FD1477-W) for those blinds are the same across a number of platforms - Falcons, Mustangs, etc.

Perhaps worth sending an email enquiry to CJ Pony or a similar company to see what is available specifically for a 67 Mustang.

Good luck and please keep us updated on the outcome.

Thanks for everyone’s reply, why an ask is I have installed electric power steering and return to centre with 8deg of caster is almost perfect but I think it could be better with a solid powering bush. Currently a manual bush.
Something others could consider
