Public Warning: Do not deal with Robert James Wallace, Mustang Stables

31 August 2016

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe is urging the public not to deal with Robert James Wallace, who trades under the name Mustang Stables.

Between 5 January 2015 and 15 October 2015, Mr Wallace allegedly received payments of tens of thousands of dollars from six consumers to import and restore Mustang cars from the USA.

Mr Wallace entered into contracts with the consumers to supply them with the completed vehicles within four to six months, but has failed to do so.

Mr Wallace and Mustang Stables are known to have advertised their services on the internet on websites such as Gumtree and Car Sales. Consumers are warned against dealing with them.

Neither Mr Wallace nor Mustang Stables holds a licence with NSW Fair Trading. They are not authorised to sell or repair motor vehicles.

The Commissioner said it was in the public interest for NSW Fair Trading to issue a public warning under section 86A of the Fair Trading Act 1987.

“If Mr Wallace is allowed to trade, there is potential for serious financial detriment to consumers,” Mr Stowe said.

Consumers who have dealt with Robert James Wallace or Mustang Stables, and who have not received the vehicle within the agreed timeframe, should contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20 or visit www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au

Well, lets see if we can keep this thread alive (so please don't post slander, threats etc)

I am one of the six, been in the "process" since October 2015 and it frustrates me that he is still advertising (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ford-Mustang-1965/SSE-AD-4051185/?Cr=51) but great so see we are starting to get some traction

- My build was a 1965 R code track clone (VIN 5R09C179230)
- Currently going through the courts

cheers

Greg

I hope whoever bought the car, gets the same car he inspected. nevertheless, those who Robert James Wallace screwed should get a lien on his accounts and equipment he is also trying to sell. They should notify the NSW Dept of Fair Trading straight away.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the Duct Tape.

***WARNING***POSSIBLE SCAM ALERT***

Yet another car from Robert James Wallace

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/terrey-hills/cars-vans-utes/1966-ford-mustang-fastback-shelby-gt350-tribute-fully-restored/1157856957

Be very cautious. Possible dodgey workmanship eg; badly built motors and transmissions (everything from welded up cranks and incorrect descriptions of internals), poor paint and poor repairs/mechanical work in general, not to mention a scam for your money without receiving the car at all, ever.

Do your homework and be very, VERY careful when dealing with this lowlife dog of a person. Many many people bitten over the past 3 years.
