Hi guys just wondering if anyone can recommend a quite external electric fuel pump I can fit to my 66 coupe It gets abit annoying hearing my pump whining or whirring away.
Thanks,
-
Why are you running an electric pump anyway ? . A stock pump will do the job .
-
I like my electric fuel pump.
No cranking to get fuel to carb.
Also have cutoff switch for anti theft.
Got a Facet external on my car.
Just requires cutoff switch in case of accident.
-
Where have you got the pump mounted? My 66 has an old electric pump (not connected) mounted next to the fuel tank, I found it when I had the car up on a hoist when I was checking it before I brought it.
-
The pump was there when i bought it, its mounted next to the tank.
I will have a thorough look and make sure its not vibrating against the tank or the body but it just seems a noisy unit.

Hi all, I found this on the web!
May help if you're interested!
I can guarantee they'll be quieter than a Bosch 044!

I've got a mallory 110 electric pump that I find quiet enough.
I mounted it using a set of FJ Holden radiator bolts that have a rubber center section to isolate vibration.
Works pretty well.
I used an electric pump as I was having vapour lock issues in Darwin's heat and the electric pump allowed me to run a return style system to keep the fuel cooler, solved all my issues.

I'm recessing a BA Falcon pump assembly in a new 22g tank for mine.
Keeps the pump cooler, quieter and hidden away.

A few people have recommeded the Mallory.
-
Don't buy an Aeroflow 97 gph red unless you want a really noisy pump. I have mine mounted on a big rubber insulator but it's still loud.
-
I decided to stick with what I have for the moment.

Most carburettors only like 5 - 7 psi. You would only use a Bosch 044 if you were running efi because they put out 73 psi and 300 lph.
If you used one with a carburettor you would have to run a bypass type fuel reg.

Bosch 044 Fuel Pump Specs:
Bosch Part Number: 0580254044.
Minimum Current: 12 Volts.
Operating Pressure: 72.5 PSI (5 Bar)
Minimum Flow @ Outlet: 80 GPH (300 LPH)
Also, be careful of the thousands of Chinese copies out there being sold as genuine on eBay and automotive websites. They look very close to a genuine pump but if they are selling for $50 to $150, they are a copy.
