OK, that picture is upside down.

At the top right of the picture as you see it now, that is the rear spring & rear rail. The rusted section is the floor as it sweeps up beside the rail near the wheelarch. The white is the inner wheelarch, looks like plastic filler has been used extensively in that area, but applied some time ago in an attempt to stop water getting in the rear of the car.

UPDATE FINALY!

well over the time since the last post my 66' has moved from florida to CA and is currently sitting in Schumacher's warehouse. hopefully not long till she's on a ship heading for the east coast! anyone know how long cars usually have to sit there before the set sail?

also i dont quite understand the insurence options they sent me...? can anyone help me on these???? i no i need insurence but what does it all mean??

Premium Charge   + $75 policy Fee.............Type....................Coverage....................Deductible

1.85% of Declared Value........................Total Loss..........Fire – Theft – Loss Only.........$0.00

2.00 % of Declared Value........................All Risks........Damage - Fire – Theft - Loss......$1,000.00
..
2.25 % of Declared Value........................All Risks........Damage - Fire – Theft - Loss......$500.00

2.50 % of Declared Value........................All Risks........Damage - Fire – Theft - Loss......$250.00

thanks guys
hope all is well

Deductible is what we normally call the excess.

So if you pay 2.5% of your cars declared value then the amount you will need to pay if something goes wrong is $250 or if you pay 2% of your cars declared value then you pay $1000 if something goes wrong

Eg.
Cars declared value - $20000
Insurance option - 2.5%
Policy fee - $75
amount you pay for the cover - $20000 *.025 = $500 +$75 = $575

If the car gets damage then you pay $250 and they pay the rest (in theory)

Id recommend 2% or higher with those options (gives you total cover)

Kosa ,i took the 2% option. The more you pay the less the excess. I dont know how often cars are damaged  seriously during shipping but mine turned up with only a few small shipping scratches ( and a stripped window regulator) which is hardly worth claiming on. Good luck with Shumachers.Mine took 5 months to get to W.A. But maybe a better service to the east coast. Looks like a real PROJECT car and should keep you busy for quite a while. Good luck mate.

Take the insurance. This is what they did to mine. I didnt have insurance a s the car was a bucket anyway.

Front damage, front screen & turret. You cant see the turret damage in the pics but it would have held about 100 litres of water & made a nice kiddies pool. Looked like a 150kg ballarina had a bit of practice on it.

hmm well thank you guys. a big help. how do you know the declared value of the car?? mines not the best looking fastback atm so i think i may do the 2.5% $250 option just to save heart ache if anything serious does happen...

Wow 5 months! you serious! i hope mine doesnt take that long. i hope mine will be here by September atleast. "PROJECT" yes but she will look sexy one day!

soc123_au you've definitely convinced me to get insurence lol sad story :(. lucky u didnt want the windscreen :P

Just a thought if that is a US date that means it has sailed already.

Thats because you read the date wrong 6/7/10 is June 7th 2010 to the Yanks, not as we would say July 6th 2010.

I am sure Steve is ready for you. Let me know if I can assist.

Bet you are nervous now. :omg:

The "Recognition Guide" is still a good read, new version will be out soon.

As for a "Resto" book, depends on what you are thinking of doing with the car. If stock, then plenty to choose from, if modified, then it gets real busy with lots of differing ideas published. I have a small collection that if you can get down this way, you can look over to see what is suitable.
