Hello again Kerry,

Are you going to be in the states in May?  Now that I have a few days off, I will be able to catch up on my replies.

Not only will I be in the US, but probably down in Phoenix for a few days. So I will post it on the MAA forum when I am coming down.

Hi Mark, thanks for the welcome. Everyone has been so nice in greeting this bare foot, hillbilly, country girl. I live in the big city but I still have my small town ways. To answer your question, yes it is sunny here for about 350 days out of the year. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! The warmer the better. What is your weather like there?

I have but 2 questions. First, are you going to have a pony to drive? The second, will you have time for a get together?

Hey Rock,

No I don't work in mining. I am a "licensed drug pusher." LOL I work in hospital pharmacy. Been in the field 25 years now. I finished my run this morning after putting in an 18 hour shift on the last night because someone called off and we are not allowed to leave until a replacement arrives due to patient care and safety issues. The I took a four hour nap and got up in time to have dinner with the hubby (first time in a week) but I won't be up for much longer. Then tomorrow will see me doing chores inside and out. We have had so much rain here this winter that the trees, roses and bushes have grown like crazy and are in serious need of trimming and weeds are popping up all over. I have a good two full days worth of work back there to get things cleaned up and get the patio washed down and furniture uncovered. I did the front yard during my time off last week. Then I have 3 rooms to be painted before I go back to my regular shift in 3 weeks. After I go back to day shift I will have split days off and that makes it harder to get big things done. Ireally don't want to do any of it. All I really want to do is getting in my pony, dropping the top and hitting the road but I need to get my chores done first.

Jules

I can't promise Sam, but I can promise you a few others that would love to treat you to both catching up and a great meal. That is if you don't mind being seen with the "Black Sheep" of the MAA.

That is GREAT that I finally found a place to fit in with my "strange" sense of humor. The same goes for you, if you don't understand, tell me!  I LOVE IT!  Who knows, after we finish the trip there next April, we just might sell out here and join you all permanently........... that is we pass the vote there. Thanks for the Welcome

Well if you speak with Sam, you will find I was always the sweeper of the convoy, picking up all those that fell behind or broke on the runs. The first few MAA runs were mainly old Mustangs, not like the runs now days, so there was plenty to do. We basically called ourselves "the rear dogs".

We did have a "black sheep" in our group though, good friend & fellow Sacramento resident (well OK, Grass Valley) Bob Lamb... :w
Called himself "California Boy", but when he drove into a flooded road (in LA on the 96 trip) & destroyed his radiator, he was known as "California Buoy".

For the 50th anniversary show/run I will probably build a car (69 F/B) to drive. Just for laughs I will make it right hand drive, same as the last one I drove over there. Pictures of our 96 MAA ride here.. It was "Mustang 1" upon leaving Atlanta for the return trip.....

Hi USA Pony

At the risk of being the one to start world war three….I’d much rather you Americans flooding into this country than any others.

I love the USA and more over the generous hospitality given to my family on many trips there by some very nice people indeed. On the most recent trip last November – December 09 we met a lovely pair of sisters at Disneyland in LA - around our own age 40+ and after 30 minutes discussion on the Lillie Bell Carrige - Walt Disneys train around the park.

They invited us 5 to thanks giving dinner. What a unique and wonderful experience …my kids will never forget it nor will my wife and I.

Oh and we all still stay in touch via Facebook …. How great is that!!

God Bless
:(;+

I can understand that completely. So many have the opinion that there is nothing but selfish, bad people in the world. But they couldn't be more wrong. There are plenty of good folks out there. You just have to open your heart to find them. We had a similar experience at Disney World in Sept. 10th, 2001....... Yes the week that the planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. We found many folks that were stranded like we were, who decided to continue our vacations as much as possible for our kids sake. They were scared enough by what was happening, just like we were. Anyway, while at Epcot, as I said, we met several who were frightened and outraged at what had happened. But we also came across a few from other countries who were shouting that the U.S. got a portion of what it deserved. Needless to say, it almost came to a big fight in the streets. We were glad when security escorted them out. Quite uncomfortable.

Anyway, we can't wait to come down. The only draw back is that we won't be shipping our mustangs  but renting one instead. For me, I will be a passenger the whole trip and not a driver. BUMMER............ I guess I will just have to spend my time looking out the window at the landscape.............

I saw a program about Coober Pedy while I was recouperating from an illness in January. It was about the Opal mines and the town that is underground. Have you ever been there?

Julie

Showing off my club items from the 45th celebration trip to Birmingham. The Aussie items on the dash and rear view mirror and the banner from the Mustang Club of Sweeden.  What an honor to be made an honorary member of both.;_

Hey that's the Queen Mary! My Dad sailed on her during WW2, he often commented to us, as children, on going up the crows nest during the voyage across the Pacific.
Now you just give her right on back :w:w:w

Welcome aboard USA pony...

Unfortunately Julie I can’t say I have been to Cooper Pedy. From all accounts though it’s a really unique place. Especially all the underground mining housing and hotels etc.

It is in a really remote part of the country. I do love Opals, but I don’t like the heat. Also not one for camping unless its got running water, restroom facilities, air conditioning and full room service with a smile…which is really funny considering we do go camping with very good friends of ours ….only we are in the onsite cabins with almost all the above amenities !!

I live in Brisbane, which roughly about 45minutes drive to the Gold Coast. I guess it’s similar to say the weather you’d expect in Florida / Orlando being a bit more inland. Only the further north you go up the coast here, the hotter it gets.  Air Conditioning in summer is really a must have item.

Our travels in the USA have been fairly extensive (I’ve just not been to say the mid – top east coast region from Atlanta up), met some wondererful people as I said previously. We also have relatives in Atlanta. Florence Mississippi was a real eye opener for us, man what a strange place, it was a dry county too – so we could get a drink until we were behind closed doors…. but still very nice. Hey, if ever you’re in these parts feeling a bit hungry or thirsty, feel free to drop us a line and pop in. Must go now so look forward to further chats down the line cheers!

Well you know "G.O." that is the way it usually is. People will travel around the world to see new things and places but never seem to visit the areas that are within a days drive of their own front step. I know several here is Phoenix and many more in Las Vegas, (where we lived for 12 years before coming to this stinking place) that has never been to the Grand Canyon which is no more than 5 hours from either city.

But I agree with you completely about the camping requirements. I did enough of the "roughin it" when I was a kid. These old bones don't like sleeping on the ground and indoor plumbing is a must.

I need to get a note to my friend Martin to find out more particulars about the show. Mainly because we want to make sure that we have a mustang (Convertible hopefully) reserved for us and we also need to find out where to fly into and all that business. I am not one to wait until the last minute.

I can't wait to get there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may have found the place to fit in................ I just read 4 pages of the 3 word game that has been going on since January of last year. My Goodness!!! I have laughed until I am crying and my sides are killing me! What characters!!!!!!!!! ;x     Now I don't have to worry about being a bad influence on anyone there since you have all proven that you have gone astray way before I got there. LOL :w

Now I have the perfect place to go when I am having a terrible day and want to choke the life out of the next person that crosses my path. I'll just open that thread and read a post or two and then I'll be smiling again.

This stuff is better than Prozac!:(

When we did the show at the Queen Mary last fall, it was the same weekend as the big Pirate Show and Convention. There were pirates and wenches everywhere. We had a blast and stayed aboard the ship. Before the Car Show, we walked all over the ship and was just amazed at the beauty of it. There were some parts that were under restoration, so I can imagine what it looked like when your dad sailed on her. I love memories like that. How many kids today are going to have those stories passed down to them. Most of them here in the states will be........... "ahhhh kids, what happy times I had holed up in my bedroom, perched on the bed playing video games every waking hour of my life."  SAD At least we have warped our son for good by making him a "car guy" by dragging him to car shows and hanging around with other car crazy people. Oh well, he will plenty of stories to tell his therapist. ALL TRUE TOO!!!!!
