As requested here is a tutorial that explains how to resize your pictures and then add them as an avatar in your profile.

I have written this as if your picture is already hosted on photobucket so if you don't know how to add pictures to photobucket check out this other tutorial

How to post pictures - that are stored on your computer

If you have any suggestions or problems just yell out.

Cheers,

Foresight

1.   Browse to the picture you want to be your avatar and then hover your pointer over the picture, then hover over the "edit" tab and then click the "resize" option

2.   This screen will load

3.   Make sure the "Keep Proportions" box is checked, change the first size box to 180 (the second is filled automatically) and then click "Save a copy"

4.   Copy the link from the "Direct Link" box

5.   Open the MOCA forum, click the "User Control Panel" link, Click the "Edit profile" link, delete the automatically filled in first password field and then paste the direct link you copied from photobucket into the "Avatar URL" field

6.   Scroll down and click the "Edit Profile" link[/size]

7.   You will be redirected to this page and it should say you were successful. If it states an error involving your password then you forgot to delete the first password field which is filled in by default. If it says your picture is too big then you didn't put the correct sizes in when you were resizing your picture in photobucket

I was going to wait untill I get my car and take a pick of the finished product but since you put this thread up I may as well put my first avatar picture up of the car fresh out of the paint shop. Thanks for the easy instructions Foresight.

See Lee, (ohh that's a bit like Ahhhhhhh Phew the Chinaman) it wasn't me who posted the first "Captain Crash" message on your thread, I might be responsable for the name but for us that know you....... well what can I say, you do have somewhat of a reputation, crashing you might say! :+
;_ Well done mate it looks good

thank you now us not so computer smart people can have a avatar  :a:p:a:p:a:p
Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an 67, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on MOCA, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car...................

I heard yesterday that Photobucket are sending a thankyou cheque to a "Captain Crash" for all the extra signons to their site..:(

Heard also that Photobucket crashed this morning, any truth in that rumour?  :+

Haha i wish Kerry

My motivation is the easier we can make it to get onto this forum and learn it for beginners then the more forumites we will have which is always good...I have also noticed that in general the older boys have a lot of knowledge of the cars but not so much on computers so it will hopefully inspire more valuable contributors to join us on here that are very mustang literate but may be frustrated by the computer side.

Cage

I used photobucket today. All good.

Foresight, I do have a photobucket account.

No it's not mate but all the photos in my photobucket are pretty much from the project Sheri thread.

Why you ask mate? I am not a huge tech head so I am not sure why you are asking. I was guessing for more photo's of my car but maybe not. Fill me in mate.

Foresight

yeh just curious to have a look at your car...nothing suss :+

Ill cruise the sheri thread then :(

moe

Foresight - can you do a "how to" on crashing the forum?!?!?!

Thanks Foresight,

I followed your instructions, but my avatar looks dodgy, how do I fix it? Heres the original before I resized it:

You would be best to edit the original picture outside of Photobucket to resize the picture.  When doing so, make sure you keep the dimensions in the same proportion as the original photo ... most programmes have a box to tick to do so or an option that does the same job.

Looking at your photo, it is stretched on the width .... out of proportion to the original.  I imagine photobucket will have a tick box to keep in proportion but I do not know that site too well.

I will grab a copy and play with it for you.  Check your email for a few new pics.  Oh, also check your post and see the use of the code that displays the picture on here rather than just the link.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the Duct Tape.

Hey guys, can someone suggest a fix for the following please.

I have checked and checked that the photo I chose for the personal avatar was the correct dimensions.  size = 30kb, pixels = 180x122, yet I continually get the error about it being too large.......  :banghead:

Email it through to me and I'll fix it up for you.  Just click on my email tab at the bottom of each one of my posts.  (you have to be logged in to see the email tab)
