Hiding speakers
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:39:28 pm »
Hi guys,
I'm after a few ideas to where i can hide car stereo speakers , i have a '66 Fastback and really dont want speakers on show. I'm happy to have the dash speaker but dont want them in my doors , kick panels or the rear quarter panels (where the last owner hacked large holes in the panels which have now been replaced). I've been wondering whether they'd fit under the dash or even the trunk? I'm not after premium sound quality but just something half-decent.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Jim

Have a look at the dual cone speakers for the middle of the dash, and the under seat speaker options:

Is having a quick release speaker box an option??

Great link Mo,
Hadn't thought about under seat speakers until reading that page , never heard of quick-release speaker box either but id prefer a more permanent solution
cheers

The seat risers are perfect for placing speakers. I usually cut the shaped section out of the center so they look like a 64 1/2 seat riser.

That gave me room for electronics etc, but by lining with sound deadening mats & fixing a panel on top with the speaker hole cut out, it would work great.

Might be a good place to put a big Woofer if you like plenty of vibes;_

jambo, if i recall correctly;  cap classics in canberra had some under seat speakers last time I was looking for a solution for my coupe.  I ended up continuing with the parcel shelf setup.
