Fastest way to Ballarat

Travelling from Sydney, unfortunately on Thursday at this stage so I'll miss the HMAS Canberra convoy on Wednesday, and too early for the SS Maniac (Heven67) on Friday at 4:00 am, so I need to know the fastest and most practical directions to Ballarat once I make it to Albury.  Any advice?

Bee, come down the Humr to Broadford (Country roads) to Kilmore to Lancefield to Woodenf to Daylesford to Creswick to Ballarat.  

Get a map and you'll see it pretty direct.  

Or fwy driving is down the Hume, Western Ring Rd to Western Hwy to Ballarat.

B, I notice in a posting above you said we (HMAS Canberra) were leaving Canberra on Wednesday.  NOT true we are leaving Canberra on Thursday morning at 6.00am from Hall on the outskirts of Canberra travelling towards Yass (right on the border of ACT/NSW).

Quite right Reg,

I was planning to leave wednesday and spend thr night in canberra and leave early with you.  Best case now, is that I leave sydney early on thursday which will add 3 hours to the trip, but may also mean we stop overnight on the way (which I'd rather not).

Safe motoring Les, we will see you in Ballarat at some stage.  Hope no one breaks down otherwise you might see them. We have 8 cars in the group.

a 66 Gold GT
a 66 white coupe
a 67 Green GTA
a 70 Yellow fastback
a 08 red shelby (phew what a car)
a 68 white f/back
a 66 red clone shelby vert
a 66 silver coupe (I think that is the car is taking)


Edit: Oh, I forgot. We will be going straight to Melbourne and then onto the Metropolitan Ring road. If you have a GPS then that will put you onto it and then onto Ballarat.  In my case I had to type in 43 Main Rd, Bakery Hill because that is where our Motel is. If I used "Ballarat" then it wouldn't recognise it. Not sure what Motel you are in.
