Fuel

brentley:
Being a newbie Iam not sure what type (grade) of petrol to use in a C code 289 I has had a little work done on it with an edelbrock performer intake manifold and holley 650 carb added.  I hear west australian fuel is of pretty low quality and so I want to get the best out of my car.

nassi:
Hi Brentley, I use BP ultimate as this is 98 octane, best available. If you havnt modified your heads for unleaded fuel you would be wise to use an additive.

What is the compression ratio of your engine?

ThunderKiss:
I used to use Shell Craptimax but the car ran poorly when cold:(.  Now I use Mobil Synergy 8000, it's much better.  I haven't tried the BP one yet.

Pete:
B.P. Ultimate, Mobil 8000 and the new Caltex 98 octane Vortex are the same product and are loaded from the same facility. At least here in Victoria anyway. Shell Optimax is a similar product, coming from Shell's Geelong facility.  Both of these 98 Octane fuels are very much the same in every way, which makes me ask the question, why do you think one is crap and the other not???
