/68 Beltline weatherstripping

(1/1)

Darren Bullitt:
Hi Everyone, wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a quality brand of beltline weather stripping to suit 67/68 Mustang.
I purchased a Fairchild KF2099 set but have found the clips will not hold tightly.
The clips push into the hole but will roll out when a little pressure is applied.
The kit consists of four pieces (L&R Rubber + L&R Felt)
The quality of the kit seems good just the clips are not holding tightly.
I ensured all holes were punched flat and the surface was prepared properly.
OR
Maybe I am doing something wrong???
Any feedback would be appreciated.

RocketScientist:
I bought a set of Repops for my 70 and I was warned that these don't have strong enough clips, so it could be a common thing. I could think of no other way of securing them, so I glued them with a very good epoxy to make sure there was no way they would move and scratch the new glass.

AussiePhil:
Hey Darren,
My drivers side is much the same, I’d say after all these years the holes have worn a little.
Not sure if good quality 3M thin double sided tape is the answer.
Or, machined nylon spacers taking up the gap.
I’ll have a go and let you know!
Cheers Phil.

AussiePhil:
Hey Darren,
Just to confirm we are talking about the outside rubber strip?
I had Quick look at mine and I think RocketScientist is on the money.
Carefully placed epoxy resin around the clips seems the best method of repair!

Cheers Phil.
