Replacing park brake cable on 65 mustang

(1/1)

1965 fastback:
I have a 65 mustang with standard rear drum brakes and need to replace the rear park brake cable. I have a 66 cable lying around and want to know if I can swap it straight in? Do all the brackets line up etc. from what I can see the only difference in the equaliser bar.
Thanks

GEOFF289:
Don't know for sure but I'd be surprised if they were different between '65 and '66.

1965 fastback:
Thanks Geoff. I do know the 65 is too separate cables that connect to the equaliser bar and the 66 is one unbroken cable from one side to the other. Just wondered if there were other differences…

GEOFF289:
Ah, didn't know that. Another example of not knowing what I'm talking about not stopping me from posting.

Looks like the equalizer bar itself is also different

Geoff,
My research tells me they made the change to save a little bit of time on the assembly line. No improvement in performance.

I’m just not sure if it’s just the equaliser bar that changed or something else at the drum.
