Hey Guys,

Have a 67 coupe, Auto c4, 302 and stroked to 347. original factory transmission.. have no real idea on whats in it.. only had it for past 3 years..
The transmission is had its day and time for replacement. I'm stuck between leaving it as Auto and just do a rebuild or T5 conversion or do I go do the conversion to manual.

i love the cruising with auto, but do miss the manual...just seeing what most people have done to help me decide.

i get its a individual choice and preference.. but curious what people of done.

I did a T5 install into my manual 65 Fastback back in the 90's.
Stupidly sold the 4-speed, but that said, there's no way I'd ever go back as the T5 is so good.
Just my 2 cents, but if it's a V8 that you drive for fun........ manual all the way!

Three pedals is the only way to go.

T5 in my '66, 3.25 in the diff and 17 inch wheels. 1,800 odd rpm in fifth at 100 k's.

Pay attention to the first gear ratio, a lot of T5's have pretty low firsts and if you go too low with the diff you render first gear pretty much redundant.

I have a 66 Convertible, 4 Speed BTR (overdrive and lockup torque converter) auto 1400 rpm @ 100 kPh
Unbelievable fuel economy would rival many small cars.
So smooth to cruise but can manually shift if I want to get up it.
Wouldn't swap it for the world.

Interesting, I was having that conversation the other day with a c3 corvette owner and he wanted to go the other way
I think part of it is the LHD bit
does anyone remember laughter
