1973 disc brake conversion
« on: May 09, 2023, 02:55:45 pm »
Hey all,

Looking for some advise and seeing if anyone on here has swapped front drum brakes to disc brakes on a 73 Mustang? I know I can buy a kit from the states but im being told as well that there is potentially say a particular model falcon for example that may bolt straight up and avail locally instead of bringing them in.

Thanks in advance.

cheers
Jase

Any Falcon should bolt up. XB onwards have bigger hubs which affect the wheel fitment. Other issues are the tie rod taper size on early cars (Pre-XA I think) which will be smaller than yours. Simple fix, change the tie rod end but means you have to remember that when replacing them.
You can use the complete spindle and brake set up and will bolt in.
The brake hoses may need to be made up. On mine I had to use longer hoses (about 50mm) to fit.
