1970 mach1 steering upgrade
« on: November 08, 2022, 06:59:41 pm »
Hi all,
I am wanting to upgrade my 1970 Mach 1 power assisted steering with the borgeson upgrade kit .
Would I be correct in saying that what require is the steering box , power steering pump , pully,
Rag joint and drag link adapter ( if I keep the power steering drag link ) .
If I don't keep it and instal a manual steering drag link , do I need a different idler arm ?
Does the steering wheel shaft collapse  in on itself when they say shorten it by and inch or does  it need to be cut ?
Cheers mik

Yes you have it sussed -  ps drag link plus adapter pr man drag link. You will also need ps hoses and header clearance might be an issue depending on what you have.

Yes column collapses on itself internally.

I recommend a KRC pump they are tunable for pressure and flow to match the box and your preferred level of assistance (without getting into the box internally ie torsion bar).

I have borgeson box and KRC pump and works well.

Cheers
