WTB - Early C4 for 1965 Mustang
« on: October 14, 2022, 03:01:22 pm »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a C4 for my 65 Mustang, with a view to getting it rebuilt.  Mine had a serious leak from the case, and the transmission specialist has found that both the case and bellhousing have been badly repaired in the past.

Does anyone have one lying around (maybe swapped out for a manual) they are happy to part with?

Location - Melbourne SE suburbs, so Vic preferred, but willing to consider shipping one from interstate if need be.

Thanks
Shane

Hi Shane, try Trevor at 0434 341 621. He is in Baxter and specialises in auto trans.

cheers Nick

Thanks Nick.  I called Trevor and he has several and was very helpful.  Getting a bell housing as well is the tricky part - rare as hen's teeth.

I'll put him in touch with my rebuilder and we'll see what happens.

If others out there have one still let me know.

Shane

I've got one out of my 67 (66 build) works fine, no issues. Not sure if its what you need? Not aware of the changes in the C4 across the 65-67 Models.

Give me a call 0409565259 if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer Daz, but have it sorted now.

It turned out that my 289 block is very early and required a 5 bolt bell-housing (the original having a big full-length crack that is shoddy welded).

Sourced a C4 for rebuild and the 5 bolt bell-housing from Trevor (as recommended by Nick).  Then cost me a fair bit to have the whole thing rebuilt.  I visited Trevor's workshop in Langwarrin South and he had some serious hot cars there that he was doing the trans for. If I had've known him earlier I would've got him to do the whole lot.  Live and learn.

But I have a nice fresh trans now - and finally no leaks!!!
