Question regarding American autowire instal
« on: August 20, 2022, 08:25:22 pm »
To any one whos rewired a 69 with American Autowire kit .
Ive just started got fuse box mounted next step mount relay block but theres no where to put it as the wires are not long enough to mount to right handside of steering coloumn where there is space.
If any body done this instal or has some advice would be of great help.

Hi,

Doing the same right now as well in a 70 MACH1. Found the same problem, I am going to mount on top of the low dash panel. Will need to remove the dash pad to get access if any of the relay’s need replacing. It would be good to compare progress and ideas if your interested?

Regards Greg

Just out of curiosity,......are you gusys talking left hand drive or right hand drive cars. I have fitted several of these kits into original left hand drive cars with no issues.

My car was convert to right hand drive back in the 70’s then back to left hand when the laws changed. Due to the modifications and massive cutting and shutting I decided to go down the path of an aftermarket kit. So far it’s been straight forward other than all the OEM plug ends are long gone.

Yep found the same thing. I utilised the plugs from the old harness and rewired. Do you have the old harness so you can do the same?
