Lifter damage
« on: June 21, 2022, 09:20:45 pm »
Hi all, I had a nasty lifter failure and am currently in the process of pulling things down to see what other evils are lurking in my 289. My big concern at the moment is the lifter bore has heavy scoring. All the other bores are smooth but this one is rougher than a badgers arse. What's the best course of action in this situation. Cheers, Dan

Completely strip the engine, send the block off to get this lifter bore sleeved.

Find out WHY this happened, and check for other damage.

Rebuild as required, return and drive. Use oil with a high zinc content

Yep, did some more homework today and that’s exactly what’s going to happen 👍
