Big block Radiator for 68.
« on: May 13, 2022, 02:37:55 am »
Hey All,
I’m looking at updating to a 24” big block radiator.
Needs to be inlet on right and outlet on left!
The usual suppliers (a few of them) are waiting on deliveries from the US.
Does anyone know of any stock around.
I have left a few web enquires but only a few have got back to me.
Cheers Phil.

Have you tried mishimoto? They have always been quick and good quality.

Hey Chris and FB,
I’ve just ordered a Northern 205132 from Rolan, I think they had a Black Friday 15% off sale.
Sale ends today.
Cheers Phil.

Hey All,
I need to work out what to do about a fan shroud.
I’m thinking I’m going to modify my existing 24” shroud with existing 11” Spal and Davies thermos and extending it to have a rubber flap at the bottom.
I’ll post some photos when I get around to it.
Cheers Phil.

Hey all,
I ended up buying a Northern radiator 205132 from Rolan.
I had my eye on this radiator from the States for a while.
It was a Black Friday sale and at about 10pm on Black Friday when I found it, a $167 discount!
Still a bit dearer than buying from the States with all the costs, but worth it if there are any problems.
It looks beautiful and has fitted millimetre prefect to my cut out support. I just needed to sit it back 20mm because of the wider tanks. The top inlet suits me also, it’s more to the centre and further away from my supercharger, great!
I made the top radiator hose out of two 90 degree hoses and made an aluminium joiner to suit, the bottom hose was pretty easy fit also, I think an original Cleveland hose would be perfect, but no one in Bathurst had one.
I’ve made two cowls that I’m not happy with (a bit agricultural) so I’ve got a Nissan R32 cowl and 12” thermos coming tomorrow, it’s supposed the be exact width and only 4mm short on height.
I let you know how it turns out but I’m sure it’ll work and look great!
I’ll post a few photos later.
Cheers Phil.

I can second that Aussie Desert cooler radiators are a joke.

Phil, is this what you're after?

Hey Geoff,
Sorry I didn’t answer you, must have missed it. I was really looking for aluminium restomod look.
Have look at at the Northern 205132, it’s beautiful and fits a cut out radiator support beautifully.
I was a bit surprised / disappointed though when the box said “made in China”
Funny thing though I wanted an American radiator, reading though many! expensive well known brands are tooled in America but assembled in China. The way things are at the moment that may change!
I’ve had Chinese radiators before, they’re fine, but this one has tighter cores and highly polished. The welding is no better though.
I’ll post a finished job photo.

Cheers Phil

Hey Mick,
My local tuner here swears by them, but they deal in newer cars.
Mainly Commodores, must be a high production line thing.
I really like the look of Fenix radiators but they didn’t have anything suitable.
I would have loved a PWR but were a bit dearer and a long lead time.
Although I did put an online request to ADC and didn’t get a reply!
Cheers Phil.

Hey Chris,
Yeah, they said they mainly do Asian market stuff.
They do look nice though, they’re the upper end, probably more reputable end of the Chinese stuff.
Cheers Phil.
