69 Instrument Cluster not working
« on: May 03, 2022, 06:45:40 pm »
Hi
My instruments are operating intermittently, when I start driving they seem to be working okay but at times all the gauges go to zero, ie, oil pressure, temp, fuel.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Peter

Voltage regulator on the back of the dash is "juicy fruited"

Good idea to replace the 50+ yr old style regulator with a modern solid state one.

But thoroughly check the earth connections for the cluster seeing as the issue is intermittent. I'd do that first up.

Agreed - more likely to be an earthing issue rather than a regulator issue - easy way to check - at night when the lights are on, do the dash lights go out/back on at the same time?

agree voltage regulator or wire to or from.
the 5v produced from the reg powers the gauges and that all gauges are effect indicates common item.
does anyone remember laughter
