69 quarter panel ornaments chrome attachment
« on: January 12, 2022, 09:47:16 am »
has anyone found a solution to reattaching the chrome to the fake quarter panel scoops. I disassembled the three parts to repaint the scoops and the black panel, which meant cutting off the securing part of the chrome so it sits flush with the back of the black panel.
I'm trying to reuse the original and not buy the reproduction. I've seen a video from the states where they use JB weld which is my current option because I can't find anything else.
anyone else got any ideas?

cheers

???
There isn’t any chrome used in the qtr scoops?

Or at least not on a Fastback.

Might be on a coupe?

Post up a close pic of the back of the chrome?

You could try 3M double-sided tape.  It is used a lot for external attachments to vehicles (side-scoops, spoilers etc.) and is pretty strong.

@jiffy sorry yeah it's the ornament scope on the coupe infront of the rear wheel.
sorry I didn't take pics.

@67FBGT you make a very valid point. thank you.

@scollist also very valid.

I'm much more open to these less permanent ideas. I'll play around with it and see how it turns out.

thanks guys much appreciated
