« on: February 27, 2022, 04:02:24 pm »
Hi front calipers been sitting around in box of parts for 12 + years  pistons wont budge. Is it worth trying to rebuild or get new ones  there of 69 mach 1 big block. Any advice ladys and gents.

Service kits seem pretty cheap - https://nationalmustangs.com.au/products/1968-1973-ford-mustang-disc-brake-caliper-boot-seals?_pos=2&_sid=f549163e8&_ss=r or https://www.custommustangs.com.au/disc-brake-caliper-rebuild-kit~41414

Getting them unstuck and checking whether you need new pistons, or have scoring or pitting on the race is obviously the critical part.

CustomMustangs has the pistons pretty cheap too - https://nationalmustangs.com.au/products/1968-1973-ford-mustang-disc-brake-caliper-boot-seals?_pos=2&_sid=f549163e8&_ss=r

This video is interesting on how to get stuck pistons out of a caliper (even though it is Mercedes based) - https://youtu.be/qc4zlGaJgoA.  I'm sure that a good brake shop could rebuild pretty cheaply, compared to the cost of new calipers.

The rebuild is easy I used compressed air to drive the piston out. Make sure pack a rag in between the piston and anvil as the piston comes out at with incredible force
does anyone remember laughter
