Short snout water pump!

(1/2) > >>

AussiePhil:
Hey all,
I need to buy a shortened snout water pump for an 89 5L Windsor or shorten the snout of my USMW WP3069US reverse direction water pump to allow my Supercharger drive belt past because I’m fitting a larger supercharger pulley!
It's not your usual set up as photo will explain and I've thrown away the old one I replaced before!
The water pump pulley is smaller because i have an under drive auxiliary engine pulley.
I'd like to dismantle mine and shorten the shaft.
Can you dismantle water pumps these days.
I'm not sure i could use an electric water pump as far as the belt runs!
Has anyone had experience with this!
Cheers Phil

AussiePhil:
Hey,
If I could press the flange off, press the shaft out, machine a bit off the length of the shaft! Because there is a lot sticking out.
And if that’s not enough I could refit the pulley inside the flange before I press it back on!
I’ll have to look around for an old water pump to see if it’s practical.
That would work!
Cheers Phil.

AussiePhil:
Hi all,
Apparently you can get a short water pump for CW water pump but not for a reverse flow water pump.
I may not be able to do this job anyhow, the radiator hose will need some major rerouting.
Cheers Phil.

AussiePhil:
Hey all,
Problem solved, I pulled the flange off the shaft and found it was just a parallel bored flanged.
I cut what I needed off and pressed the flange back on, bored the pulley to suit.
Supercharger belt passes with good clearance!
Cheers Phil.

Glad we could be of assistance  :leaving:
