as you drive the fuel sloshes around against the top of the carb. my guess warped cover/top or gasket needs renewing. if it was float level it would leak past the boosters

Many moons ago, a carby specialist told me that new mechanical pumps have too much pressure for the old carbs. I checked mine & sure enough, it was also pumping out 7PSI. I rebuilt my 4100 using a Walker rebuilt kit (Amazon) & fitted a Holley regulator, set to 4PSI. It's been running flawlessly since 2013. I did get a stuck secondary needle & seat last week, but I suspect a little dirt got in. Quick clean & off it went!
