Hello everybody
ive had a 66 coupe for a couple of years and from what ive been told by the last owner and some checking by myself the car is 99% original except for wheels, disk brake front and a few engine parts, my problem is the rocker covers i cant find any info about them online as to whether they are factory/dealer options or aftermarket any help would be great

If you remove one of your covers and look up inside you may be lucky and find the manufactures
Name or markings.

Never seen them before but a knowledgable mate in St Louis says if the pony logo is a stick-on decal, they are early days US aftermarket items.

Everyday 1966 289 Mustangs just came with pressed tin valve covers painted Ford engine blue.

Hey Dave,
I can’t add anything about their origin but they look spectacular! And probably very rare!
Cheers Phil.

They certainly look pretty cool, seeing there is an alloy intake manifold in view l would think they may have been sourced and fitted at the same time as other aftermarket gear, is there a matching air cleaner cover?

I need to replace some of the old gaskets that are seeping so they’ll come off in the next week or so I’ll check for marking then, sorry not selling ( I think they’re cool as well), the intake was put on by the previous owner as well as a new carby, no matching air cleaner but I’m looking, the original owner bought the car for his wife’s birthday so might have been dealer optioned( the last owner got in touch with the  original owners daughter but she didn’t know much about cars, the lady was still kicking 4 yrs ago in her 80’s)

Covers don’t look factory, running horse logo is not correct to the original Ford Mustang logo. I suggest they are early aftermarket.

Yeah I know they don’t look quite right, but I’d like to find out if they came in a set with a matching air cleaner, it would be good if I could find one
