Front shock bushes
« on: July 04, 2019, 01:33:18 pm »
Hi all, the upper rubber bushes on the front shocks in my '71 fastback are knackered but the actual shocks themselves still seem fine.

Is there anywhere local I can get just the bushes without having to buy a complete new set of shocks?  The current shocks are KYB gas-a-justs if that's relevant to the discussion.

Failing that, does anyone know if XY-XA-XB-XC Falcon shocks are compatible as they're much easier/cheaper to get hold of than Mustang specific ones.
Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian,

I would have thought Pedders could sort you out.

Most likely - I'm approaching it more from the angle if I can get new bushes for $10 then I'm prepared to do that, but  I suspect somewhere like Pedders would want way more than $10.  In that case I'd just spend $100 and have a set of brand new shocks.
Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian,

The Pedders bushes don’t fit. I’ve been down this avenue before.

KYB don’t stock them separate. I’ve been down this avenue before. Had to purchase new shocks. I’m sure the Falcon one’s are different. Unless you come across someone that has them lying around.

Thanks John, pretty much what I suspected but always worth investigating the simple option even if it turns out to be a dead end.  With the Falcon shocks, I'm getting the vibe they are a bit taller than Mustang ones as some sellers advertise shocks that are suitable for either a stock height Mustang or lowered Falcon.

Found some proper Mustang shocks for a tick over $100 a pair so might have to go down that road if I can't track down some bushes - bit of a waste though...  :ouch:

Thanks Jeff but I'm pretty sure the '71-'73 shocks are different to the earlier ones.
