Instalation of diff seals ??

Hi all.
Im about to install new  seals /bearings etc just wondering is there a certain  lube to use on seals or will  a smear of normal grease do the trick.
Probably  a silly question but want to do it right to avoid  leaks later.

You mean axles seals or Pinion?
