Yes Glenn, it was still roped off but I moved the ropes and went in and had a close look at the outside only as it was locked. But its a bucket of puss mate. The paint is terrible - looks like it was sprayed some time in a sand storm. It's had one of those short aerials above the centre of the windscreen that's been removed and filled with bondo and the bondo's sunken in. There's bondo break-out on the roof and other parts and swirls and file marks in the bondo under the paint around the front screen vent, the hood black-out is gloss ... I could go on. As I said - not a nice car.

Yep $88,000 and I was told the seller wants $100,000 . It was a 20 footer I say ,looks good from  20 feet away .  Some buyers just think of the R code  and 428 engine and say its collectable without looking into the original parts of the car in detail that makes its  real value. .                                                                                                                Same with the GTHO they sold ,plenty of things wrong with that one that I picked including the left hand front wheel was a 12 slotter copy :  brake booster ,horn, etc etc .                                              What about the Monaro $310,000 and don't forget all cars have a 7.5 % buyers charge on top of the sale price and most are sold unregistered and  with  no RWC .

I watched the auction on the internet, that Monaro was crazy.
I did notice the Testarossa front panels where all over the place in the video, nothing lined up, also wrong exhaust, steering wheel and header tanks, all pricey items to fix.

After what that pastel grey thing went for; if I had one to sell, I'd be running it through there for sure.

I see all 3 off the Mustangs are back in from the last auction, i cant believe they did sell for the previous prices they got to in the auction, with the exception of the race car.

I might pop over and check out the cars today . They told me they were going to have a auction once a month but they were getting so many classics they didn't know what to do ,well they worked it out , about  every two weeks  :thud:  .They are making a fortune at 8% for the seller  and 7.5% for the buyer  chargers   :thud:   Even tho most cars don't meet reserve ,but the ones that do make them big dollars .  I asked them for a part time job for these  Classic cars and told them I know quite a lot about classic cars and they said NO ,we don't want someone that knows too much  :thud: hmmm  .I suppose they can't get into trouble when describing the cars ,they say they just sell them .  Sounds like going into a dealer ship and talking to a sales person

Sounds familiar, When I was thinking about a career change, I went for a sales job at the local ford dealership, i was told i knew far to much about the products and that was not a good thing!
"we just want to sell cars here we don't need to know everything about them".

Pedro and myself went out today for a look see ,cars every where . A black 1969 fastback ( Mach 1 ? not sure )but with a 427 stroker and five speed manual .  Lloyds just don't have the inside space for 90% of these cars so they are outside .  Two very tuff Camaros also , plus many other classic cars .

Wow the R Code  made $88000

That is not necessarily true . I sell a lot of cars at auctions and the auctioneers will often pretend there are bids if the bids are low in hopes of getting a buyer that will bid close car close enough to a sellers reserve that the seller will lift the reserve . You can ALWAYS tell if there is a real bid by looking at the ring peoples hands that are taking the bid . An open hand means there are no bids and a closed hand means the bid that was just received is a real one, not an "air bid".

This 65 mustang says its original matching no. car with 3 owners yet it has a 302 V8 in it?

In auction language, this really mans that it was originally a mustang and that the vin on the body matches the vin on the title.  :lmao:

Our RT 6 packs were 2 cylinders & 75 cubic inches smaller than yours

But they pulled like a 14 year old & were mighty quick.

1 barrel per cylinder, sounds cool to me . i'll have to try and look one up on the internet to see what the engines look like.

Yes, that's 3 Webbers you can see hanging off the side and they could out-accelerate the revered Falcon GT HO.

Yes Barnett the valiant charger R/T  six pack models are worth looking up .  They had models from 1971 -1973 . The 1st was  called  a E37 then a E38 , a E48 ,  the E37 and E38 had a  3 speed manual gear boxes        the E48 was the 1st to use a 4 speed box    then the last model in the 6 pack range was the E  49 which had a 4 speed box . They started off with around 280 HP then went up to 302 HP in the E 49 .  The E 49 ran around a  14.1-14.3 @ 100-101 mph with a 3.5 ratio diff and crapy street tyres of the day . A 265 cu in straight. 6 with triple 45 mm side draft webers hanging off the side .  After these , they made an E55 v8 model that had your 340 engine . The E48 was rare and was a plain Jane looking car and not painted up like the others and was in sleeper mode  :burnout:

Regarding the Dick Johnson XC Bathurst coupe up for auction this Saturday ....
A few posts from another forum ...

*Dick Johnson's XC Coupe is up for auction

*Didn't Dick raid that car of its key mechanical hardware to create his first Tru-Blu XD?

*Yep, its well known the hardtop was gutted of everything racing related and rebuilt using the driveline from the XD that replaced it and the hardtop was supposed to have been sold off as a used car.

UPDATE .... http://www.v8sleuth.com.au/news/2017/05/25/johnson-hardtop-in-online-auction-
