I saw the eBay ones. Seems expensive. Can you buy new? I would rather buy new ones for $500.

One of the few parts you can't buy new unfortunately.

I just got a very good set of Phill Beresford through this forum at a good price.

I pulled the 17's off and also swapped back to the old LCA's. The new ones are shot already, what a waste of money.
The car is now registered and has plates on it. :)
It's now ready to cruise, but I want to fix the front end ASAP.

Did they say anything about the roll bar at the roadworthy? Just interested as I'm thinking about installing one in my car.

As for the brakes. I wouldn't spend my money on the cheaper Wilwood kits if you plan on doing any track days.

I have two race cars. Not planning on doing any track days in this one. I know the Wilwoods are not the best. But they are very light, and will be fine for my use. The rollbar is a bit of a grey area. It is a purpose built one that is sold for these cars. It adds safety in a few ways, but also is unsafe as if you hit your head on it you could die. I put the good foam to suit non helmeted heads on it. But when I get time I will do the whole thing. I ran out of foam. Just put enough in to keep him happy, and the kids safe.

Took it for a cruise on the weekend to try out the new number plates. Kids loved it.
I learned that it's good to give it a bit of revs in first, then throw it into 3rd. Much more comfortable than using second.

The 17x9" wheels arrived yesterday. I went down first thing this morning and had some 225/45/17's fitted on 2. And some 245/45/17's fitted on the other two wheels. Bolted them on, and took it for a test drive. It does need some work to make no noises. Slight rubbing in the back. And the front binds when turning more than half lock. I think some 5mm spacers will fix that. The 9's fill out the guards well, and give the tyres a bit of stretch. The rear tyre clearance to the guard is tiny. Looks good. Just need to get the guard roller in there and tweak it a bit.

Good effort to make a 17x9 fit. What offset are you running?

Nice ride height with 9's. Any side on pics to show clearance?

Offset is zero. The diff is a bit wider, out of a Lincon I think. I need some spacers on the front to get it away from the top arm (should have bought 18's, would have been ok.)
Clearance is tiny. I will get the guard roller to fold the rear arch lip a little more, it just touches. Front guard clearance is plenty.

Here is the new vs old wheel pic. The lip is almost identical. All the dish is in the centre hub, the sockets for the nuts is very deep.

Don't get caught with spacers in Vic. Unroadworthy and illegal now! Confirmed to me by a Large Tyre retailer/owner.  :thud:

The first set of 17's needed bolt on spacers. These don't. Zero offset.

I like it a lot more with the new wheels. Here is a screen shot of a video the wife took of me driving by.

What's the difference in ride quality between the 15" and 17" wheels? Do you notice and increased amount of harshness with the new wheel?

When you said earlier that the wheels had zero offset. Would that mean you're running 4.5" backspace on a 9" rim?

I haven't noticed much difference in ride quality. The 17's still have a fairly big sidewall. Tyres are 225/45/17 and 245/45/17. Backspace would be 4.5" given zero offset. The front rim does touch the upper arm, so ideally a +5mm rim would be ideal. I used a 5mm slip on spacer on the front. The rear diff is wider than a normal Mustang, so if you have a standard width diff, you should be right.

Should be a 5 inch backspace. Measured wheel width doesn't take into account the 0.5" lip on either side of the rim(so the true width is 10"). Backspacing does take it into account. Plus a 17x8 in 4.75 will just clear the rear guards when the car is lowered, so to get a 9" in there you'd have to go to 5" backspace.

Interesting you mention the rim touching the UCA, as with my 17x8 4.75, the rims are about 5 mil off the UCA, and judging by a calculator I just used you have 5mm less clearance inside.

I'm still surprised you got 9's on the back and the car that low. Do the wheels touch the guard on compression?

The right side rear tyre does rub ever so slightly, and the guard lips have been rolled. I am going to buy some pump up shocks so I can raise it when the car is loaded with fuel and the family. Cheapest option would be to remove the 20mm blocks, but I like the ride height. I think it would be possible to fit 10's all around with some minor work.

Yeah don't raise it, the ride height looks perfect.
Honestly I don't think you could do 10's on the rear with that ride height without a minitub or moving the diff in.
10's are a 265/275 tire, I haven't even anyone in the US even get that.

I bolted on the late model Mustang wheels. They look good, but don't have much dish.

What sizes are you running? Any scrubbing?
