Frankenstang only has 98 in it, but then i thrash it something shoccking.
The Princess's MY12 SS Bogandore has always had E10 in it and it runs fine.
It's a 5 1/2 year old LS2 and when we bought it GMH had it stickered to run E85.
When she trades it on a new Mustang GT next year, i dont see why that wont be using E10 either.
These world engines from Ford & GM are made for it.

I'm pretty sure all 95 is Ethanol E10.  It will eat rubber.

Avoid Ethanol and stick with 98 (or 91 if your engine is built for it).

Don't think so Shane. 95 is just petrol. E10 actually has a RON octane of 94.

Servos are required by law to display the ethanol content of any fuel they sell at the pump.

Thanks Geoff. I stand corrected. I'll edit my earlier post.

I thought most E 10 fuels were 95 .  You can buy premium 95 at some service stations but not all ,most only sell 98 as there premium fuel .

Hey just my opinion but I know all Caltex /Woolworths stations still at this time sell 95 as a premium unleaded NO ETHANOL which is all I have used in any car I have owned or the last 10 years(3 mustangs 2 falcons inc a turbo &GT and a focus sports) and I have never had any issues ..is only fuel I will and have used.

There is no way I will ever use E10 again. I tried it in my 65 F/B for a while until it appears some of the rubber in or around the carby had dissolved resulting in an engine bay fire.  Thank heavens for a good fire extinguisher. I was with an elderly relative today who was taking delivery of a new car. I asked what fuel she should use and was told 95/98 was preferred but never E10 as it will melt any rubber it comes in contact with.

Late model cars are ok with E10 ,they are built for it ,but I still don't use it   . You think E10 is bad how about E85  :thud:  .

E10 and E85 is another government con, it is NOT environmentally friendly, nor is it really cheaper.

The Octane Adjust Ratio is derived off the fuel, lower quality fuels retard timing and can cause other issues like LSPI which is bad for these engines.

A friend did a mileage check and he claims he gets more mileage per dollar out of 98 so the extra he pays is worth it. Of course it was a recent model Mustang with sensor that adjusts timing to the octane.

If they say it can run on 95 so be it but don't use 95 E10 ,it still causes problems .  98 when the price is down and 95 when the price up . I prefer BP then Caltex for fuel .

I agree. I use 98 when price low and 95 other times. No 91unleaded for my Mustang Cobra.....

I use 98 (Caltex of Shell) in my new GT convertible.  It's a no brainer for me - the engine warrants the premium fuel and I do about 35,000 km per year.

Further, as I lease I get wholesale post pump prices anyway through fuel card. I usually use a Caltex (on Mustang Avenue, believe it or not) near Canberra airport which pretty much price matches the neighbouring Costco fuel prices so really well priced.

You mention Shell...  If you appreciate your car stick with BP or Caltex run away from Shell

:agree:   People who put higher octane fuel in their car than what the manufacturer specifies in the belief they are doing a good thing are simply deluding themselves.  Claims of noticeable extra power and/or significantly better fuel economy are just fantasy...

E10 on the other hand is indeed the handiwork of Lucifer himself and should be avoided like the plague.
Cheers,
Brian

Talking about fuels  ,here is a strange one . A few people I know of , with hi performance cars/ engines and running Carbys ,have had fuel problems with the Carby flooding and fuel coming out the vent tubes . Been happening on the race tracks ,street and on dyno s . We have tried everything to stop this  happening and wondering why . Myself and a top dyno guy think as all the engines were running BP 98 it's the BP fuel additives causing the problem . The only way we think we have solved the problem is running return lines back the the tank even with mechanical fuel pumps .
