Valve covers are baffled on both sides ...

Not the issue then. do all the plugs fowl or just the ones on the cylinders with more leak down?

well you can still remove the pcv for a test.

if you plug the pcv then remove the oil cap then shield the hole in the valve cover from the fan and rev it up and see any smoke at all, your rings are leaking oil.

if there is a lot of pressure coming out the hole, that is usually from worn rings also.

if you pull it apart and tell us all the specs, we can help you spend your money and make it better and faster than it curently is if you want.

So try and wiggle the valves from the top, it may have chomped out the guides , so no matter how good the stem seals are it will burn oil.

Gave that a shot, could grab them properly to wiggle however seems tight, no slack at all

Will be intresting as to the final verdict

Best to wiggle when you have pulled the spring off and open the valve a little.

Pull the engine, get a hone done, set of rings and bearings check the heads and put it back together.
Not a hard job. Two weekends.

Pull it out and send it to Fitzy's engine builder. You won't be worried about it burning oil any more. Or fuel.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

But at least Fitzy's trans works....oh wait a minute, no it doesn't...but his hydraulic clutch is fine...oops, wrong again....well his brakes must work at the very least....oh, just remembered...no they don't...how about his differential then...possibly if you like loud whining and klunking noises coming from it...well maybe his parking brake works...uh, oh, i think that big dent in the back of his mustang and front of his brand new $90,000.00 gas burning diesel powered land cruiser suggests differently.  :lmao:

Ok so motor is out, pulled the heads to inspect bores.

Found cylinder 3 with a decent scratch/graze. Seems worse on photo but can definetly feel it with finger nail. All other cylinders are perfect.

bummer.

what oil are you using?

how hot does your engine run?

what is the hottest it has ever gotten?

looks like it heat seized to me.

as mentioned, take it apart and measure the cylinder to bore clearance, however before you do that, put the pistons that are on the end of the cylinders, on tdc and measure how far below the block they are.

give us the numbers on the top of the pistons

measure the pistons for wear.

measure the ring gaps.

if all is good, you can get a sleeve in just that one cylinder.
