Hi Barnett. I personally imported this car from San Remo in 2010. Thank god the dollar was good then.

Thanks for the info . That is a very rare color which is why I though it might have been the one I sold.

These 69SCJ are not that expensive in the states. Take a look at this one. Looks fully restored and comes with a Marti report.

Some of that resto is from a $10.00 can of spray paint and it's not a mach 1 or a 4 speed and its not a drag pack car but it does look rust free and decent enough to bring up another notch with a few items like S tube, heat shield, voltage regulator, plug wires, and correct rad fan.

some of you guys sure have odd standards for "fully restored" . that car is not fully restored . look at the instrument and clock bezel . all the chrome is faded off and they painted over the friggen door latches and the shifter is wrong.  :thumb:

it is also NOT a drag pack car, plus it is not a super cobra jet . it is a q code and in the US that is the kiss of death and very hard to sell . it also has the wrong engine and he doesnt say exactly what type of block it is and it has reproduction door tag.  :thud:

much better.  :thumb:

some of the body panels don't line up perfectly and the air cleaner snorkel slopes uphill by a mile but all in all it is a nice fully restored car and it is only $143,000.00 usd.

The shot of the end of the front chassis rail is like WTF????
Not a drag pack car? Because the build date was before the 20th Feb?

Nice enough car, and rare in a non-Mach1 sort of a way. And the vac-adv on the distributor is wrong, so likely to have the wrong dizzy. You'd have to question al the other rare parts too.

Was it similar to this color?

Yeah, not too far off that. The guy who owned it before this seller got it also had an original IF/White CJ car, the colour was similar in that it was closer to IF than to black, but it was pinker from memory - more like the '66 Thunderbird Medium Palomino Metallic (sold as Antique Bronze) but that's only a guess. It may well have had the build sheet under the seat/wiring harness which would have identified it, he may even have had a look for it, can't remember. The original colour was visible behind the side marker lights and when the red came off when the stripes were pulled (rear quarters) and inside the trunk in places

Hard to believe they would develop a 69 428 SCJ and still not include  tac counter.  :bolt:

Tach was 'free' with a 4-speed in '69, an option in an auto.
Was an option in both for '70 because they fitted the 4-speed cars with a rev-limiter.
Unbelieveable thing was you could go from a 'CJ to a SCJ in early '69 for about $6 for the optional axle ratio - it triggered the SCJ crank, LeMans rods, cookie cutter spacer, bigger harmonic balancer, speedo adapter, oil cooler, horn jumper wire and different timing pointer - until about mid Feb '69 when they said "Fcuk that - surely we can charge more! How's $121-odd sound? Let's give it a NAME - surely that'll reel in the suckers! DRAGPACK sounds good...."

The 69 Mach 1 with the R Code number plate, I think it's a 1 of 3 special order paint car.

that is a poor shade of india fire like the car i previously posted . it is not a special order color.

not enough photos to tell much but it certainly looks nice in the available photos.

it is not concourse under the hood.

shall we start with the scott drake stick on decal on the coil?

the org coils had an ink stamp on them.

heres a better look at the sticker . kinda cheesy looking.

it also looks the the distributor vacuum advance may not be correct but i cant say for certain without better photos.

the correct concours ink stamp would look similar to this.

the fan belts should also be embossed like this, not ink stamped ad i will bet you $20.00 his are not embossed.

there is a lot of these small details that are wrong on many "concours" car, so exactly what does "concours" mean

Also, a true concourse car would have crappy looking single stage paint with orange peel in it.

I've only quickly looked over the car but you raised some interesting points around paint work.  These days some panel beaters want the paint finish & panel fitment perfect but they never rolled off the factory floor that way especially 65 & 66's

yeah some were pretty ratty from the factory . they are often referred to as monday cars because it was assmed most of the workers had hangovers from partying on sunday.

since we are talking about paint . it would have also had paint ok stamps which i bet $100.00 it aint got because you have to have a stamp made.

it also has the wrong tires . they should be goodyear.   :thud:
it's also looks like it is missing the engine lift hooks  :thud:
they spray painted the entire ac clutch with cast iron color paint.  :thud:
rear spoiler is glossy but it's supposed to be nearly flat  :thud:
wheel trim rings are shiny and reproduction and should be satin finish  :thud:
the screw that holds the shaker scoop down looks rusty  :thud:

yup, its a "thoroughbred alright.  :thumb:
