Having attended the show I left feeling totally underwhelmed,nice cars,nice venue but dragged down by the eliteist attitude of some of the car owners who I asked questions of.
Having purchased my first Mustang in 1987 I have accrued considerable knowledge of these cars,unfortunately I don't know it all and asking questions fills in the gaps.Answers help.
I will not be renewing my MOCA membership for the coming year.
Thats a shame, but not unique. Found the same over many years, but more were willing to chat and help than not.
The biggest example of a MOCA dick i ever had was in Sydney when showing my wife a nice black and gold 66 shelby Hertz.
The owner walked up and got something out of the car and my wife wanted to know what the H stood for in 350H.
I asked him to explain and his response was (with a smirk on his face }
" dont know what your talking about mate? doesn't mean anything". he continued being a dick even after my prompting him further to explain nicely to her.
So I offered to remove the H from the car for him if it didn't mean anything and shouldn't be there !!!
He wasn't to keen on that though.
I later found out who he is and have been told that he is regularly a dick to people like that day. He probably still does to this day as im sure he is still a member.( maybe one you talked to )
Its the MOCA members like him that give the club a bad name ( the stuck up and elitist ones), but generally most members are pretty good and happy to talk cars with others.
Id say give them another chance.
those members are slowly being overrun by all the newer members, now that so many cars are available in Australia compared to the early 80's.
