Thanks, I will stick with the Trickflows then.  Any idea if 2.00 x 1.20 inch is the correct port size for a 289?

i posted the size you need but larger ones will fit also.

The printoseal gasket failing with the chinese manifold and the engine builder not using sealant caused my engine to totally destroy itself. I would talk to Shaunp before purchasing printoseal gaskets as he dismantled what was left of my 347 and built the new 408 which has not missed a beat.

i have used chinese chinese intakes but they have to be checked for fitment first . if they are not square, you need to surface them or throw them in the trash.

your "builder" is also incompetent.

As for spacer hmm you don't really need one .  You need the block off the heat crossover in the intake .  You live in VIC  so you don't need a heat insulator spacer but it won't hurt . A 4 hole spacer will give you a little more bottom end and torque ,and a open spacer  will give you a bit more top end . Your only got a stock 289  so buy the 4 hole spacer and try without and then with and see how it goes . Don't forget to buy carby studs for the intake and long enough for the spacer .

It was built by a bloke in the US Barn, Dynoflow race engines? Nevarda? ring a bell to you. It hydraulic locked on number 1 due leaking intake gasket, Chinese intake. None of the bolt holes lined up so it never would have come down square, may have been ok if even if they had run the next size drill down the holes, had no glue around the water way in the intake.
Had blown head gaskets, split the block spat the cam bearings out, had the wrong bolts holding the alloy heads down. It was just junk.  Had a weird cam which was actaully an LS chev grind with less exhaust lift, so they put 1.7 rockers on the exhuast to try and fix it.
The 408  has the same gaskets as it happens but with Blackmax around the water way and a proper Edelbrock intake. By time you pay someone to square up a chow intake you may as well buy a real one.

If I was putting a 4 barrel on a 289/302 I'd put a Performer intake and a 570 Holley on it. Assuming you weren't planing on much else down the track. 570 uses the same throttle plate as a 450.

Never heard of him but there are definitely a lot of incompetent "builders" in the US . Some of them try to Ebay their engines so people won't know where their shop is and if they get bad feedback, they just start a new account.

Yeah, that's for sure.

If you need a distributor, I think I know where you can get one cheap....it needs a new gear though .  :lmao:.
