How I would have loved to walk into a show room and order a brand new '68 coupe - in red of course.  :smile01:

Beattie Ford, Santa Maria, California circa 1968.

That's one of the great historical photos. I could see how the new fastback would have looked sensational to the people seeing it for the first time back in 65.

I wonder where that fastback is now? It'd be worth a few bob with it's provenance.

Vin #'s of the twelve 64 1/2 Convertibles used on the Magic Skyway at the 1964 Worlds Fair were 5F08F100003 to 100014.

Only two are known to survive, 100004 and 100006.

They were later changed to 6 Cylinder Convertibles during the 1965 model update.

Wonder which Vin # this one is?.  Obviously a bench seat.

100 selected Ford Dealers picking up their Mustang Pace Car Replicas.

Believed only about thirty of these cars are known to exist today

Some of them were even Six Cylinder??.

Thought they were all 260's.  Or did someone forget the emblems.

That’s heart breaking Ausfox.  If the low price was not enough, there were 26 to choose from.  Insane !!    :omg:

Mustang was no match!.  Big Ford versus little Ford

In the late eighties, I used to scour US wrecking yards for these buses, wasn't commonly known, but some had AMC 401's with forged internals.

Scored a couple of dirt cheap bus motors.

Ford used to commission a company to build these Mini Mustangs for each dealership to draw in the kids of parent wanting to test drive the new Mustang. The cars had a Briggs and Stratton engine and used to drive. Great marketing..
He, with the most toys wins.

Yes it certainly is. I have not seen many of these photos before, but then I saw the cars in person at the dealers.

There are a couple but they won't sell anything
