I've been working on some rust repairs on the dash lately. The top corners were both rusted out from a leaky window...forgot to grab some pics.....I did however get the Passenger A pillar repaired and re-welded it back in place. Next week I'm hoping to mount the new door and line it up with the guard and quarter panel before I cut the quarter off for replacement.

Ok...I'm back...Been too busy with other commitments for what seems like ages....Managed to clamp the drivers side quarter and tail light panel in place today. Going to need a new trunk brace at the back..It's had some rear end damage in its life and not quite straight along the back...
I re-hung the original door to line up the quarter before I put the new door on. The panels seem like a pretty good fit considering some of the drama's some re-pro stuff gives other projects. Cheers to Harry's Classics for these.

Removed the panel between the rear window and Trunk lid. Cleaned up the area and test fitted the new piece in place. Re-installed the trunk lid to get an idea of gaps and alignment with new quarter panel etc...
It's a couple of millimeters too long..will trim up next visit.

Continued on trimming and pushing replacement panels into the correct positions....wow, not a quick process.
Threw on the new drivers side door to see how it lined up too....well, it's a little bit out. Bottom gap looks ok but the lines of the door/quarter not so good. Will sit the fender on next time and see what's the best way to attack this problem...

Re-fitted both front guards to help with lining up the new doors. Managed to get a good fit on both sides but the gap at the bottom of the doors is a little larger than I expected. Is this normal? Was hoping to have an even gap size on all three sides....
Lol..also got caught out with the door on the passenger side..It has the 66 hinge mount plates and the bolts are smaller then the 65's....luckily the 72 Fastback being restored on the other side of the garage had the smaller bolts...so I pinched some off it for a while....shhhh.....don't tell the father-in-law..I'll have them back before he notices....

The door gap at the bottom is bigger, can't remember the measurement as they're all at work.

I was told that you line up the bottom front corner of the door with the sill panel line, and then square everything else up from there (moving backwards) when fitting new rear quarters.

The door gaps I'm using are:

Sills - 5/16"
Rear Quarters - 3/16"

I'm using front suspension shims, but drill bits and screwdrivers will also do the job.

Got the Passenger side Quarter off too now. Not as bad underneath as the other side but found a heap of bog in the panel near the B pillar right up to the wheel arch...must of had a good hit during its time. Lucky, it looks like there's no damage to frame and sills etc, so new quarter should go straight on.

It’s a lot of work especially for a coupe! Good on you mate for having a hard crack at it. I done a similar thing to my 65 fb a few years ago. People thought I was crazy. Now they just fall over themselves and drool over my car.

Extraordinary the amount of work involved. And thank you for taking the time to post images and progress. I find it hugely interesting.

Your planned Caspian blue, white interior with dark blue inserts will look truly spectacular. A fantastic colour combo IMO.

Finally got to spend some more time on the old girl...Test fitted the Passenger Quarter and seems to line up pretty nice...
Also attacked the right hand side trunk floor....I wanted to see what the frame rails were like inside...and in really good condition once you get past the brackets/braces for the Springs etc..
They seem to be Galvanised....did not know this....
