Gents,

Any idea on the Kings part number for stock springs?  I'm trying to recover from a 2"+ lowering at the front that has caused new paint work damage with new slightly larger tyres (long story, bad math).

Cheers.

Jeremy.

No idea but I just fitted the KFFL59's - 205/70/14's plenty of clearance. 650mm from highest point top to bottom level ground

Kings 59's are lowered 6 cylinder Cortina spring so standard height Cortina spring may work. But 59's are not too low generally.

I bought 225/60/15 and I knew the car was already lowered.  Having already stuffed up the new paint job I'd like to keep well and clear.  I've read that KKFL-0 suit as well and are not as lowered, but I'd still rather aim for stock.

Just give Kings a call, or if you're in Qld ... go there.

No they are lowered and heavier rate they are a Falcon spring.  you can tell by the part number. KFFL = King, ford  front low.

I have built a 65 for a forum member it has KFFL 59's 225/60/15 , runs a 351 and AOD, auto , AC etc so plenty of weight in the front and the guards sit above the Tyre no trouble also has 5 leaf reverse eyes in the back  same thing has clearance to the wheels.

I would try the 59's first frankly.

I did call Kings directly on Friday, they recommended KFFS-02, which is for a same era Fairlane, stock height.

Only ever put 59s in them and trim if it needs to be lower. I've never tried to get one Standard height

I used the 59's and took off another 15mm which gave me another 30mm off when installed on car. Should of gone 10mm instead for 20mm lower .

So how does the KFFL-59 spring compare to a stock '67 spring, if it is actually for a Cortina? (shaunp's post somewhere above).
Is it slightly or a lot stiffer, single or progressive rate?
(Sorry but prefer to ask the knowledgeable ones on here, rather than the King tech dept).

Both progressive and stiff compared to mustang.  The KFFL0 is a 6 cylinder falcon spring

So how does the KFFL-59
(Sorry but prefer to ask the knowledgeable ones on here, rather than the King tech dept).

Certainly don’t class myself as knowledgeable. Can only offer personal experience!
Put KFFL - 59 on my 65 and had the rears reset an 1” lower. Rears were already and good quality 5 leaf. I don’t run high end shocks just KYB gas adjust. Ride and handling difference after the KFFL - 59 is chalk and cheese even though I still have pretzel sway bar.

Firm positive ride with far less float and improved steering. Best money I’ve spent on the car so far from a cruising enjoyment point of view.
Always dreamed I'd have one!

UPDATE:

I decided to go with KFFL59's, and Koni Classic adjustables.  I finally finished one side this morning, dropped the vehicle back down, and I've gained 10mm.  It might be enough, and I'm hoping that I don't lose a couple of mm's when I do the other side.  I've bounced it (not excessively), and I've got no rub.  To what extent should I test this?  I might not be thinking clearly about this but besides coming out of a steep driveway am I going to encounter a scenario where I'll have my wheel turned and a lot of weight on the front of the vehicle (besides any Dukes of Hazzard moments)?

I really want to make sure there will zero rub before I go back to the paint shop to get the paint repaired (again).

Thanks.

Jeremy.

Wise choice on the shocks, get an alignment and make sure it has some neg camber as well. are the arch lips rolled?

So if I'm understanding the above feedback, the KFFL59s lower a stock Mustang by about an inch?
There is also mention of the KFFL0 which I'd thought from posts in the past was the spring of choice, now it's the KFFL59?

Shaun,

Lips are definitely rolled.  In fact my paint guy reckons that the paint wouldn't have cracked if the the arches weren't lead wiped.  Total measurement from ground to lip now is 610mm.  Actually in saying that now I think I've only picked up 5mm not 10mm.

If you relocate the spring perch. you'll gain about 1/2" in height. As well as getting a better motion ratio. It will increase the spring rate though.

Well i fitted KFFL59's stating 30mm drop but it only dropped 20mm, i'm guessing due to the sag in the 50yr old springs. So every car will be slightly different.

You can pack the top of the springs to the tower if needs be, you can buy urethane spacers.

Maybe hasn't got any spacers fitted at all, and maybe no rubber mounts on spring perch either.
PS you mentioned 225/60/15, that's around 650mm/25.63inches so your guard is still over the tyre if it measures 610mm
