New Bonnet arrived. Not sure about it yet. Looks good but shape will need some working on. Typical glass bonnet with steel frame.

Well Saturday was the day we removed the roof completely.
The rust underneath was not to bad with lots of surface rust which will clean up really well. Underneath the rear qtr sail panel was some real crumbly bits that will need to be cut out and replaced with fresh metal. The roof skin itself was really good with only the sail panel need any type of real attention.

After many hours of dirty, dusty and hot rust removing the end result looks pretty good.

We also took the time to start mocking up the new panel to work out where we would need to adjust them to make them fit. (apart from everywhere)
They didn't look to bad but a long way to go before the line up properly.

Car is looking awesome and a good idea to have removed the roof, at least now you have the peace of mind that every panel has been repaired and painted. Love the progress you are making. :thumb:

Thanks for that.
 The body is the biggest headache we will deal with. I didn't want to do all this work to have the dreaded bubble up appear in a couple of years.
We spent today starting to put in the inner wheel arch and check the rear end alignment. I know it's written everywhere on the net but it really is shocking how bad the replacement panels are out of shape and not even the same size left to right. It is going to take some creative fabrication to get this looking half decent.

Great progress and pics. I didn't realize the roof could be removed like that so never had that done to mine.. Keep up the good work!

Take my hat of to you!!  Having done something similar with a Ford Escort I know how deep a breath you have to take sometimes when making big holes in your pride and joy.

Just remember, this is your ONLY chance to do things.  If you are even remotely thinking about something (eg roof removal) then do it!!!

Thanks for the comments. I must admit it was a deep breath to take knowing the 67 Coupe roof is not available. I am looking at mini tubbing the rear up to the rails to give me another 2" each side without cutting the rails. I am engaging the services of an engineer in January to work with me during the whole build process over the next few years to ensure a smooth compliance after all the mods.
Not sure how i will go with the bonnet though!!! May have to have a steel spare.
