It's got a metalic black background... It's sort of  reflective... It's hard to read the letters from some angles.

Mate, when I built the car, these plates were not available at the time. I was trolling the Ezy Reg website one day just mucking around and found that they were available once again so I was on it like a fat kid on cake!

Colour is black background with gold lettering. - same as Dale's in this same thread (GT350H). In NSW we don't get the option of 7 letters/numbers. QLD, SA and WA do, but have asked RMS here and they have no intention of adding the 7th digit.

For the last few months I have fretted over the rear wheels touching the guards whenever anyone else is in the car. It would also happen if there was a significant dip in the road.
I have decided, rather than roll the guards (or change the offset of the wheels) I would just replace them.
A helpful club member had a set of original "American racing wheels" which I have now purchased.
The old wheels will be up for sale soon.

Hey Anthony, The new wheels look a lot better than the old ones.
I think it is a step forward. A good decision I think!

Drove her to work this morning..... So great to not hear the tyres scraping on the guards.. The wheels also feel a little softer (now not so low profile) so a better ride.

On another topic. I attempted to "polish" out some very heavy scratches on the guards and boot yesterday. In the sunlight it actually looks worse than before....
Anyone want to give me a hands on lesson in polishing and waxing?
Or anyone have a great detailer that they could recommend to do the job.

By heavy scratches do you mean its gone through the base coat? If it has then no amount of polishing will get them out. See if you can post a pic.

Have had a few mechanical issues over the last few weeks that have meant I am nervous about driving the mustang.
Gearbox has been stuck in second on three different occasions.(I have worked out how to get it free, but it's not easy in traffic.
I also have some quite bad shuddering on steep hill starts.

So. My plans for the new year are....
Fix the whine in the diff... Either replace centre with a LSD or just reco as is.( depending on price)
Fix the play in the drive shaft....
Recondition the gearbox
Replace the cluch

Hope that can fix everything

check out the 'Car Polishing' post at the top of the Mustang Chat section started by Glenn70. I doubt youll get any better info on this subject.
'Rocket' Rod was the major contributor to this thread and his expertise is certainly missed by us all here.
when a 3 month engine rebuild turns into 3 year bare metal resto.
you get that .....

Axeman , the problem with the box maybe the linkages if its a top loader , the slack in the tail shaft will be the diff centre (backlash) . When you do the clutch you should get the flywheel machined .  Check out the diff ratio as it might be to tall and giving the clutch a hard time .
