Rob, I think the moderators have done that for a reason. Downloaded images are only needed for your avatar. All other images can be referred to using the insert image button (from that site) it seems to work pretty well as I suppose it doesn't chew up the memory in their server.
Use Photobucket or a site like that to store your pics you wish to post.
I'm sure that there are a few threads on how to do this.
