mac66:
Hi Guys,
That would normally be correct however this car is a 69 and had the black hood treatment verified by the Marti report.
Could have something to do with being a Hertz car ?

staddy:
Not sure on that , my GT350 hertz car is a 69 and my marti report says hood black out treatment as well ,and lots of marti reports on shelbys say the same without black hoods or stripes  so I`m thinking it doesn`t mean that , will have to look into what it does mean though , Mick

staddy:
Yep ,done my homework'     this is how it was .loosely taken  From  Shelby concours judge

The Marti report shows only what was done on the regular ford assembly line. The blackout wording may have something to do with the blackout hood on a mach1 paperwork wise, the 69/70 fastbacks started life as mach1`s. The 69 cars were delivered to AO Smith for conversion into Shelby`s from ford Without hoods or front fenders. the 70 Shelby conversion was done at Kar Kraft ,   so doesn`t relate to Shelby hood paint. Hope this helps explain the wording

boss69hogg:
Thanks for the info steady.

Still leaves me asking the question why a 69 Shelby had black hood stripes? I am not casting any dispersions, but still wondering as I was led to believe only the 70s had them. Obviously this is a 69, and the black bonnet reference in the Marti report relates to its original build from Ford, so why the black stripes? Was that a Hertz thing?

staddy:
I think it was just an owner paint on thing ,and Yes only 70`s had them and  70 Shelby`s also had a chin spoiler , which I don`t see on this one , so I think the stripes  were to get a different look ? And No it wasn`t a hertz thing , the hertz cars looked just like other 69`s , Mick
