A 225/70x14 is a tall tyre ,26.4 inches tall . May not fit front might touch the front guard when turning ,but i am not to sure ,try before you buy .

Glenn is right. That size tyre on the front of a 65 is almost guaranteed to touch the guard.

I have BFG 215/65/15's which give a height of 26.0" and 8.46" wide and they are only mm's from the front guard, whereas your size would be 26.4" and 8.86" wide. It does depend on the wheel backspace, but extra height and width would probably hit.

Thanks Glenn and Shane.

Another option is to go with P225/60R14 (diameter of 24.7 inches) on all four corners, or fit 70 profile rear and 60 profile front.

A separate question, Ford XW-XF rims have the same stud pattern as the early Mustangs?

I currently have 205/60/15's on the front of my 65 (long story) and they don't fill out the wheel arch anywhere near as well.  I'll be going back to the 215/65/15's on the front soon. This size on the rear wheel arch perfectly fills them out in my opinion.

Here is a picture with 215/65/15s front and back (I have lowered the front 1" since taking this).

Thanks Al.  There's an eBay store based in South Nowra that sells BFGs.  Probably the same bloke who runs Tyre Shack...

Ken,

If you want, can try a 215/225/235 on the rear of your fastback for spacing/clearance.  Have all three mounted on 14x7 rims.

Cheers

Falcon rims are the same 1967 XR to 1971 XW and  have the small centre hole like mustangs , 1972 XA to 1998 EL will fit but the centre has a larger hole . All have the same stud patten .Late 98 AU and on have the wrong offset .

Dodge/valiant/ford wheels  are the same ,but most of the other two have 7/16 stud size .
