Being a Blue Blood, I have always fancied classy Blue Oval products.
Love all ponies but leaned toward the big ‘Stallions after seeing well presented examples here and first seeing Sean Connery pilot one in Diamond’s are Forever. Well. If it’s good enough for Bond........
I was looking for a good ’71-’73 Mustang for several years now. Didn’t really like what was available locally and there were many ‘Projects’ and run down examples overseas. Finally made contact with a professional seller in Florida who checked out this car for me and it was finally the one. Although he gave it a glowing reference, I confirmed it still needed some work to make it perfect. Check out his website below, my car is the only red ’73 Mach 1 sold to Australia if you want to see more photos. You will notice there are several other ‘Stangs shipped to Oz as well as other countries. I think he’s a little more expensive than others, but he’s worth dealing with for the peace of mind.
I’ve had it and enjoyed it for awhile now. It is quite stock other than an Edelbrock 4barrel carby and intake manifold. I also love the look of Magnums and even though they were last offered on the ‘72s, they look great on the ’73. Although Snafu’s example above looks great with custom five slot alloys which are more representative of the optional mags offered for ’73. My car also has a ’71 flip open fuel cap, again a better look than the ’73 screw off cap I believe. That’s about it for the mods.
My car was restored in 2007 but has been alittle neglected since. A normal person would have been happy with it as it was but as it was very original, well optioned and in good shape, but I decided to give it a further lift. It has gone in for a good refurbish and that includes things like painting the bonnet, bumpers (like yours, a common ’73 problem) and lower areas exposed to any road rash. I have stripped the interior bar the driver’s seat as it needs a new driver’s side floor pan, rust proofed the floors and inner areas and then will have all the rest of trim reinstalled professionally. Will be MIA for a few months I expect.
There’s more I’m sure but that’s the guts of it at this stage. Expect it will be on the road late this year, perhaps more likely early next year. Definitely want it ready for the Nationals in Geelong next Easter. Hope you can make it over 73 1of2, love to see you guys here for the big 50th anniversary birthday bash !!
