Is it possible to track the number plates(and subsequent ones) through RTA/Vicroads etc, and end up at it's current owner?

That sounds like a nice simple approach Ron, but no go, due to the "privacy" act -- they won't tell ya
We need a descreet friend in the dept !

I thought that may have been the case, but no harm asking, as I wasn't sure.

And I for one, approve.

Sure don't want anyone who sees my number plate to call and say "sob,....  sniffle... I want to find my dying dad's old car"  :evilone:   and for anyone with a number off a plate to find out where I live that easily.  Many other ways for folks to do it, but that's just too easy.

Not sure others here would be comfortable with that... see a plate number on line (which many block out anyway), make a call, get an address... If you disagree, let me post your details on line with photos of your car for all to see, not really that different than a random call to transport and them handing out info.... ??? :smile01:
