Body Caulking

Hi
I am trying to find out if we need strip body caulking to fit the fuel tank and the guards to the body
what do people use? and where can I get it

I just went to Bunnings and got strip soft rubber that the use to stop the breeze on your doors and windows, from memory it was about 20mm wide.

As you are aware guys my gaurds were on when it came back from Image Classic Cars, but when I fitted the tank I used black SikaFlex....from Bunnings

I wouldn't use any kind of foam rubber as it is basically a sponge and will hold moisture and therefore cause rust. I used black sika flex too.

Sorry I don't remeber saying foam rubber, it was solid rubber

My bad, no criticism intended or implied. do you have any issues with squeaking as the body flexes?

Dont use sika flex if you put your fuel tank on it you wont be able to ever get it back out ,that stuff sticks like S . That product from caravan supplies is great .

WURTH make an awesome product, too, which I use on all my concours restorations. It's very reasonable, price wise, too. If anyone needs the details of that, email me direct and I'll go dig it out.
