I don't quite understand Caretaker65's comment about "most" cars being there for 5 hours by 12.30.If the public can't see them until 10am,what difference does it make when they arrived?By my maths that makes 2 and a half hours of potential viewing time by 12.30,not 5 hours mate. All the advertising I saw for the show stated it opened at 10am,not 9am as some of you have stated.

Nomorexbs maybe if you had of thought about what I was saying.. you'd be thinking about "Public Safety"..as you weren't there you wouldn't of notice how many couples with kids & prams were strolling around..
Organiser's always ask that display cars are into show's prior to gates opening to general public..

I'm sorry for leaving before the end of the show,
Next time I will check with you to see what time you are arriving
So I do not depart before you arrive!

On a plus for the club it was a great day and
An even better turnout considering the amount
Of other shows on in the local area!

Well done guys!

I flew down from sydney for he show again this year, another stunning event and success, thank you organisers and entrants!  I only arrived at 11:00 am and it took me an hour to walk 50 metres (thanks to bosskraft's Sean and bernice, Winnie, NOS Mustang supplies' phill, Dave  and cate, and a bunch of friends) shortly after, the engine revving event started which is always fun.

There were a stack of cars still there, pity you didn't come in as there were still plenty of cars there at lunch time.

Great event
Cheers Bee

I also find car shows to be a very long day, personally I’d prefer to get there later and leave a bit later but many close the gates to entrants after 9 a.m.

If I was to get there < 9 am I wouldn’t stick around too long after lunch either.

I decided to take the family from Geelong to the event getting there at 12pm, I did see a trickle leaving but by 1.30 it was becoming fairly barren which I found dissapointing. My experience with car shows is once they are judged most head off which again is dissapointing as the event is until 3pm.
Fully understand peoples rights to leave for other commitments but just giving another perspective. I was in Mustang heaven to be honest being my first Mustang meet.
Was happy not to see toooo may 68 coupes in my colours.
Ill be back next year with my beast and will be there early.

And to reinterate I have kids too that have sport etc and yes there were still alot of cars and bloddy nice ones too.

The guys on the roast beef rolls would of made a killing on the warm deli meat

Don't they leave the judging till the end of the day?

Yep, my mistake.

Do they still hand out awards if you're not there to collect?

I'm with IG and Caretaker on this one.  I left just before 1.45pm (sorry) to head off to work.  80% of the cars were still there and most had been there like me since 8am.  If you go to car shows late, its like going to someones house late for dinner late, its rude and you end up with the leftovers.

For those that went its a worthwhile day.  Thanks have to go out for the people that work prior to it and then put in all day and when nothing goes wrong, no one sees them, but the job has been done well..

Good work.

Have to agree with the majority got there about 9.20am was car number 263. Cars coming in all morning and still coming in even when I left (about 1.45pm). Was an awesome day between the standard of cars, the 12.00 start up and the general friendliness of the people there. Could not of asked for much more.

In an ideal world, everyone would stay all day. When the display class presentations were done at 2:30 ish, there were still a fair amount of cars left. Note also, the workers who had been there since 6:30-7:00 am, then had to clean up, take cars and other items home or to storage, and then be back in Richmond for the presentation dinner at 6:30 pm.

I think it was an awesome day and highly commend the organisers.

:event:  I was there at 8.20 am as i cruised done with 6 other cars and got entrant 72 !! Stayed untill 2.30 ish and only by 2.00 onwards did you seem to notice any thinning of the cars at all !! So up till 2.00pm it was still quite full !! Great day out and well done to the organisers and help !! People who enter there cars are usually doing the last minute tweaks and cleaning till the wee small hours of the night as most of us know !! So either you come early to enter and see it all or sleep in and maybe see desert only ?? its your choice to come late just like its our choice to leave early ????  2 cents !!   :thumb:

Hey Nomorexbs, Did you stop to think that all the cars you saw driving away from the show were not people showing their cars, but people just like you who had gone to look at all the cars on show. They could have arrived at 9.00 not 12.15 and by lunch time were ready to go home. Not all people who own Mustangs put them in shows but they often drive them to these events. Try turning up a bit earlier if possible next time and you might not be so dissappointed.
Vic.

I think you are right mate,
I was number 14 so I was there early and I was busy selling Driving shoes from my Stand, Ozstang,
but from what I remember
when the Stangs fired up between 12-12.30 the place was chockers and from what I was told it looked full
and I don't remember any Mustangs leaving till about
1.30pm and to leave they had to drive past my Stand

I think the Mustangs he was seeing never actually had there car on display.

Im sorry you couldnt be bothered coming in, there were loads of cars there at 12.30, probably around 80% of the +500.

Coming on to have a whinge about guys who spent hours preping cars and getting up early to pay to display their car for you is not going to win too much sympathy.

Maybe don't not hit the snooze next year and you will get a chance to see a massive show.

On a different note, and not to side with arriving or leaving at certain time/s, how do the VIC's get away with vehicles moving in a show situation, without escort, when considering insurance requirements these days? Every vehicle i saw leave, did so without escort. Unless things differ in VIC to NSW. We're in for the duration up here because of insurance, whether you like it or not. Does make ithard for those with other commitments.

I didn't count them, but the Shelby count looked waaaay down this year.

Good question.. on arrival before the public enters there is plenty of marshalls to assist with parking..

I did notice couple of the "high" powered vehicles being escorted out through the public..

A good question to ask the committee at next general meeting.

I have to admit that the Shelby's didn't seem as organized as last year. It seemed a distinctive display last year. I could have sworn that it looked smaller than last year in the Shelby department. If there were 28 there, that's a pretty good number, but it sure didn't seem like that many were there. Good job.

Sean

Due to the number of cars that were potentially coming along the Shelby's were split into two seperate rows of cars (one behind the other) which may have given the impression of a smaller display.

Herman
Have now converted the other half into doing some of the Concours washin, cleaning & polishing stuff!!!!!!!!

I think you might have nailed it, Herman. They were all bunched together last year, making it very impressive. Splitting them, took that 'punch' away that the display had last year. It's one of those things, I guess.

I agree about the Shelby display. It was hard to pick that there were 28 and even harder to photograph. Perhaps they need to be coralled into one block. That would be a good look.

I thought the day was great. At 12.10 when Ken had everyone start their engines, the sound was awesome and the place was still full of cars. That Vellin bloke takes bloody good shots and seems expert at getting people out of the way ! Good man.
