Yes... That price of $345 at Chemguys is seriously good. Might be worth emailing them to find out if they can supply the 230 volt export model at that price - and check their shipping price at the same time.

Jack and Mark (mwizz) both bought their Flex polishers from ToolKing. At $532 delivered that is not a bad price. The Flex really is a kick@rse polisher.

There is also another polishing machine to consider. Check out via google the Rupes Bigfoot. It has been around now for a year or so and is getting good reviews. It has a throw of 21mm and is a lot quicker to polish a car than the Flex which has an 8mm throw. Of course you have to be very careful around mirrors and mouldings with the 21mm throw of the bigfoot.

I saw on the Chemguys link the American version of the bigfoot has a 15mm throw - much better - and safer. Link -

http://www.chemicalguys.com/Rupes_LHR_15ES_Big_Foot_Random_Orbital_Polisher_p/buf_101.7.htm

Ash, when all is said and done the Concours machine is going to do the job - especially if you are only going to use it once or twice a year.

I emailed Chemguys over the weekend but being their weekend still I have not received a reply as yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Am also waiting on a reply from a friend of my wife who is in Texas may be able to forward it for me. Will see what these two come back with and then see if they can supply a 230volt model.

At that price I'd be inclined to go the Flex. Otherwise the Concours is looking likely. As you said, it'll only be used every so often.

I just watched the vid on the Rupes Bigfoot. I think as a beginner I'd stick with the 8mm throw and take my time. The thought of burning through or damaging fresh paint is scaring the hell out of me.

Thanks, Rocket, for the feedback  :thumb:

Hi Steve,

That's a very generous offer. Thank you. It sounds like it would more than easily perform the task.

This is the one that I have, very similar anyway. I grabbed it a while ago when I was buying new woodworking tools as I was looking at some Festool Domino sets. I never ended up getting one so haven't needed to use it.

http://www.videooverseas.com/seven-star-tc-1500-step-up-step-down-transformer-1500w.html

I'll see which buffer I end up getting and will get in touch if yours may come handy.

Thanks again  :thumb:

Rocket, how's this price per unit? Think we could make up 10 people for a group buy?

I've looked quite a few times on that site, you got me onto it, Rocket. But often the quantities are too high or it just seems a little too dodgy.

I didn't get any replies from either Chemguys or my wife's friend in Texas. I thought about calling Chemguys but missed the opening hours by the time I got home. See if I get a reply tomorrow.

Ash,
Have you looked at the ZTE machines that Rocket got us in the bulk buy about 200 pages back in this thread.
I certainly have no complaints about mine and it makes the Commodore nice and shiny.
It doesnt work very well on Hiluxes but does a very impressive job on BMW's
(That might be more of an operator issue   )

I think you need to get rid of the Hilux, Steve. Can't have a dud amongst the rest. That job wouldn't be directly related to beer consumption would it?

I do remember the bulk buy you guys did on the ZTE. I can't remember the final price of them though. I do remember the pads they came with were not up to it compared with other pads available from what Rocket did in his test.

I'm still waiting on a reply about postage. If I have no luck with the Chemguys, I'll go the Concours from Waxit. That price seems pretty good for the package.

Speaking of Waxit, does anybody know about the discount we had with them on their old site, has it been updated or anything?

I rang Chemguys and then sent an email as he was having trouble with my accent in writing down my details.

They have quoted $80 for postage. Am happy with that.

I also asked about the 230v unit but as expected, two questions per email is too much effort. I didn't get a reply to that. Will assume they don't have it.

Hi Ash, The $80 for shipping is very good, but personally I am not convinced that buying your Flex from the USA is a good idea if it is not the 230 volt export model.

I will check out the UK Detailing World Forum and see if any of their suppliers might have the Flex at a good price. I believe the UK uses similar voltage to our power requirements

EDIT - Checked out the UK. No good. Dearer to buy over there.

Did find this on Amazon - but it is not the Export Model -

http://www.amazon.com/FLEX-XC3401-Orbital-Polisher-Intro/dp/B002623WBE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_2

Rod Rocket is a bit excited today!  :smile01:

Receive a parcel from fedex this morning -

Some new polishing pads and pad cleaner from Autogeek. it was what was in this box that has me excited -

Yep.... Some Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Wax. Love this wax!

For those that remember the Wax test I conducted back in 2009 - Wolfgang Fuzion was my No.1 Wax, followed closely by DP MaxWax.

Problem is, the Fuzion is a $200 Wax. So I have been using the $40 DP MaxWax instead because i used the last of my Fuzion to Wax the 2 Mach 1`s in Perth at the Nationals.

Guess who is going to be a busy boy?

Rocket.

Hi Rocket,

I placed an order with them today but it is proving to be a difficult task. After 14 emails back and forward, they still have my address wrong on the order confirmation and still haven't forwarded the payment details to me.

At first I thought it was a issue with the language barrier over the phone. Now I'm not sure if there is a break down in communication amongst their own staff too.

That one in the link from Amazon wont post to Aus. But this one here does. I thought I tried it the other day but now it is saying it will post.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DB0NVG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

This is what it is quoting total

Items:    AUD 390.93
Shipping & handling:    AUD 34.64
Total before tax:    AUD 425.57
Estimated tax to be collected:    AUD 0.00
Order total:    AUD 425.57

Which is the same price as Chemguys but you get the pads with the deal from Chemguys so will try and complete the deal with them.

I like the box that wax comes in Rocket, very nice!!  :thumb:

Rocket, I was hoping to ask your advice on how much polish you use per vehicle? I need to buy some and am not sure whether to buy the smaller 250ml bottles or the larger ones. I'm just not sure how far it goes.

Hi Ash, Good to know your Flex is on the way.

If you buy the 250ml of Polish it will be enough for one car with a bit left over. I normally polish about 5 cars with each one litre bottle.

Although my doc has said NO lifting or bending till after a hernia op, today I started polishing the Gulfstream Aqua 68 Coupe. I used the Fast Gloss 500 followed by Power Finish 1000. Did not have any Clay at home. Reckon I would have been better off claying first then using PF2400, SF4000 then SF4500. Those are the three you probably should get hold of.

Thanks, Rocket. I think I'll buy the 1 litre bottles. I'll need more than one cars worth.

The 3 Menzerna products that you mention, did you mean PF2500? I can find the PF2500 but not PF2400. Just want to be sure before I purchase.

Take it easy with that hernia. My Dad had quite a bit of trouble with his. Plus he is the kind of guy that can't sit still so did to much to soon as well.

Yes.... It is the PF2500, although there is a 2400 which is the equivalent to the old PO85RD3.02
Menzerna make excellent car polish, but ffs they really know how to screw up the names of their products. :kickass:

I have put off the op for about 4 years so I reckon another couple of months will not matter. :bolt:

Sure. You might get a better rate being a trade customer from your supplier but I don't know. I compared them to what another seller was selling the 3M Perfect-It range for and price was very similar. Since you recommend the Menzerna, I took your advice  :thumb:

It cost me $203.40 total, they combined the 3 with free post.
