Hi Rod
Well Ive just started to build my polishing kit with an order for some Menzerna SF400 and a Lake country orange pad being placed yesterday.
Now I may have asked before but I cant remember the answer, I have the C stripes on my car and wanted to know if I should be avoiding polishing near them or just go over the top of them ?
I was also considering the Jetseal 109 after the buffing is completed and wondered if it might be suitable for my paint ?.
I can smell oranges !
Michael

I have been using the Jetseal 109 lately and have been real pleased with the results..........not only is it nice and smooth and shiny but the car can get filthy with dust and crap like it did at the Clipsal during the day, and it mostly blows off going home.......been happy with it!

Hi Michael, I went straight over the top of the Mach 1 stripes with no problems.

With the Menzerna SF 4000 you would normally use that with a white or green polishing pad, but i guess the orange pad would give you a deeper cut so to speak if that is what you are after. I have plenty of white pads - just come and grab one if you want to try both.

Hi Dale, Good to see you have the Jetseal. Sounds like it is making your black paint a bit less of a full time job. :thumb:

How do you rate it compared to the Zaino?

I think the finish is similar Rod.....the Zaino is a wipe on wipe off product where the Jetseal is a bit more time consuming.

OK... Thanks Dale, I will stick with the Jetseal then because i am so familiar with using it.

Michael, Yes - The Jetseal will be ideal for your paint :thumb:

I finally finished a 4 stage Polish job on the Winter Blue Nissan Patrol this afternoon. Polished the Left Hand side and most of the Bonnet in the heat last week. Used the Flex Rotary on the first 3 stages, then the Flex Forced Rotation Orbital for the final stage. Was going to do the same on the Right Hand side, but Luke commandeered the Flex Rotary yesterday just as i was about to start polishing. Bugger! He needed it so that he and BradB could have a Rotary each to buff Ron`s Mach 1 -

It meant that i had to use the Flex Forced Rotation Orbital to do all 4 stages. Took a few hours longer doing it this way, but Ron`s mach 1 took priority. Here are some photos of the Nissan Patrol -

After 3 stages -

4 stages finished on Bonnet and Front Guard -

Will give it a wash with Citrus Wash and Gloss if i get time tomorrow, then finish it with a couple of coats of Jetseal 109 early next week.

Hi Matt, Thanks for the compliments, but i assure you - anybody can obtain these results. Just takes a lot of perseverance and good Polish, Pads and Polishing machine.

I learnt the basics by reading lots of posts on Car Detailing Forums from the real Gurus.

Check out this Link - http://www.detailparadise.com.au/showthread.php?9029-Porsche-Boxter
It is from the Detail Paradise Forum. I quite often check out the Show and Shine Sections on that Forum and others such as DetailingWorld in the UK, Autopia in the USA and Autogeek - also USA based.

Hi jusTANG, How are your Car Polishing efforts going?

In the past i have used Quick Detailer and Microfibre Cloths to clean the paint before applying Jetseal, but last week i was reading a post on a Detailing Forum where it was suggested that if you give the car a good wash after Polishing but before using the Sealant ,it will remove all Polish residue and give a sharper looking shine. So i will try it out on the Patrol.

polishing going good Rocket, done two daily's for people to practice that were well worn to say the least, did a full job on one and a quicker job with 2500 and green pad on another. then did the mustang also. both got the jetseal treatment.
I found it took alittle longer then what was quoted  :smash: The Mustang I invested about 40 hours into  :toetapping: not 16

oh, and yes I did the caravan  :thumb: with 2500 after a clay and some wax sealer stuff the old man had that was recommended to him for the fibreglass. The funny thing that only took about 16 hours. so getting quicker.

received some extra pads from china today  :nopity: took ages to arrive

will have to get photos up when I get a few minutes.

Hi jusTANG, Aim at taking 15 hours in total for a 3 stage polish using the Flex forced Rotation Orbital, which equates to about 5 hours per stage.

That is quite an initiation for you! 40hours - bloody hell - how did your arms and shoulders feel? I thik you were overworking the polish. Should take a maximum of 5 minutes to do each 400mm x 400mm section. Maybe keep a piece of cardboard cut at that size and maybe even a clock to time yourself.

You are going through a learning curve right now where you concentrate on getting used to polish and machine. That will change as you become accustomed to it and your speed should improve.

Looking forward to seeing your photos.

The Pads I ordered from PNL in China also took ages to arrive. I think they want us to pay extra for the faster delivery service, but at that price for the Pads, I do not mind waiting. I actually gave them bad feedback on Aliexpress for the time taken to deliver. They quickly sent an email pleading with me to amend the feedback which I did because they sounded sincere.
After the Nationals I will look at doing a big bulk buy from the manufacturer so watch this space for cheaper pads delivered quickly. I am very impressed with the diamond faced Pads.
