Licensing with wheels Stickout out of guards!
« on: September 24, 2012, 10:51:19 pm »
Hi Guys

I have bought a 1965 Mustang Fastback, its currently on the water from LA to Asia then on to Perth (Fremantle)

Along with the normal modifications required to get the car licensed I notice in the pictures I may have to do something about the rear wheels as they stick out of the guards. (see attached pics)

What can I do about this?

Thanks
Ash

Probably just need to replace the two rear wheels.

Not allowed in any state ,the offset is wrong .You can buy new ones with the right offset or get them redone ,that way you will have them perfect and the center will move to outside of rim so no marks will show .

Most definitely a no-no. It could be the offset/back spacing is wrong or the wheels/tyres are simply too large. Just needs new rear wheels/tyres.

Nice looking ride!   :thumb:

I'd put money on it that there are 1.5" - 2" spacers on the back - yanks LOVE them, so far most cars we have landed from the states have had spacers.

Easily bolt off.  So don't go buying new wheels until you pull those off and look behind!

When it arrives check to make sure the diff is the correct width. It could have a 67 - 70 diff in it. They line up with the spring saddles, but the housing is wider.

Won't need wheels & tyres then, just a standard diff.....shouldn't be too much of a drama
